Ad blocker or alternative browser

So I’ve been using the more advanced features on my samsung smart tv lately, including the browser (series of mishaps last week has left me with the tv and my phone for internet access at home right now)

Is there an ad blocker for samsung’s tizen based browser or better yet, can anyone tell me if it is possible to install and use a different, less rudimentary browser altogether? Would the ghostery browser, for example, be compatible?(ok i know ghostery is a pretty basic browser)

I’ve tried googling these questions in various forms and keep coming up with the same 3 or 4 discussion forum results from 2 to 4 years ago that say there is no 3rd party app for blocking and talking about options toggles i can’t find and that don’t truly do what i want anyway which is to block ads in the browser. Apparently, not emough people have considered using an alternate brower on their tv for it to become a topic that i can find any discussion or info on. I’m hoping someone with better google skills or more tech knowledge/savy can help.

Check out Pi-hole. It’s a network wide ad-blocker.

I second the Pi Hole. It’s tailor-made for blocking ads in systems you don’t really control, and a smart TV certainly qualifies.

It doesn’t seem to me that the OP has another device connected to the internet that they can install Pi-hole on.

Instead, I’ll recommend Adguard. They have a DNS server you can use, listed on the right side of this page.

You’ll have to get into your DNS server settings either on your actual TV or in your router, and change the address to 176.103.130.130 and/or 176.103.130.131

It’s the same thing you’d have to do to use Pi-hole, but without having to have a device to install it on.
