Can’t remember the last time I read such humor here where the target was Islam, or Buddhism, or Hinduism, or the Shamanistic beliefs of some tribal culture. Most of us Dopers live in majority Christian countries. Considering that, it shouldn’t be surprising if the religion that gets the most mockery is the most prominent in most Dopers’ lives and communities.
Plus, mocking Christianity doesn’t get you labeled a bigot, like mocking other, non-Christianity religions does.

Nonsense. I think the consensus on this board is that Christianity, Islam, and Judaism are all equally false but that it’s wrong to direct laws against Christians, Muslims, or Jews.
Some Christians look at this even-handed treatment and say it’s harassing Christians too much and not harassing Jews and Muslims enough. Being merely equal isn’t enough for them; they feel entitled to being treated better.

I’m a Christian, but I’ll admit that Christians have been harassing people in the Western world more than other religions. So we deserve getting some back.
If I lived in Iran, I’d be mocking Islam the way I mock Christianity here (but I’ll confess I’d be doing it vewwwy quietly…)
I look at it this way…I have family, both through blood and marriage, who are devout Christians. If you were at a gathering where they were present and you ran your mouth in your characteristically asshole-atheist way, I’d invite you to show yourself to the door. Not for being an atheist, but for being puerile and rude about something deeply meaningful to them to their faces. I am an atheist and I do not mock their beliefs or their religion out of courtesy. IMO, the religious people at this board deserve the same courtesy; and I extend it to them. You? Well, you’re…you.
