Congratulations! I am very happy for you!
Congratulations
Thank you all! I will keep you posted!
Names are hard!
Congratulations on what will surely be enjoyably sleepless nights!
I don’t know where you live, but in Southeast US there’s a grocery chain called Publix that has a Baby Club you can sign up for that will send you fantastic coupons for baby items, produce, meat and many free items as well.
Are you going to baby wear? When we were looking at surrogacy years ago I’d decided to baby wear as I felt that would help strengthen the bond btwn a baby I hadn’t borne and myself that much more.
I’ve always been partial to Chlamydia if its a girl. Such a pretty, floral, old fashioned name.
(Seriously, if it is a girl, make sure to use the stripper or Senator filter. Every girl’s name can be categorized into one or the other - there are very few that are both. Choose from the right pile. Being non-judgmental, I’ll let you choose which pile. OK, so maybe I’m still not serious)
Now that I’ve bothered to look at your profile, I see you’re in Japan. As it’s winter, Yuki is a nice name and I’ve known both male and female Yukis (one was Yukihasa but went by Yuki).
Can I ask how long you’ve been waiting?
StG
On the list of names already nixed by my wife: Babydoll, Lux, Rocket, Pebbles, Boutros boutros, el scorcho. There is just no pleasing some people.
Yukie is my wife’s sister’s name, and we want to avoid family repetittion.
Married for 10 years, trying to concieve doctor assisted (IVF etc) for 6, on adoption waiting list for 4 years.
No news yet on delivery but she is due today…
(Snipped by me)
A million years ago I was denied Boutros Boutros as a name for my new cat by my future first ex-husband. It gets no love!
Does Takara work w/ your family name?
I know, right!?
Takara, as in “treasure”. I haven’t heard it as a name before. I think my wife would red-card it.
Nice try though.
Mrs P had similarly negative feelings about Kentigern and Taliesin. Honestly, there’s no pleasing some people! Good, celtic names.
Yes, treasure. It’s been in use in the States since 1974 but I don’t know how to look up its popularity in Japan.
Regardless of her name, may she always be happy and healthy!
I begin to suspect that you and your wife may be picking from different piles…
We had a name - and spent a few years TTC - Kathryn. My brother in law had an ex-wife named Katy - but that was ok, she was gone from our lives. Then he went and married another woman - named Kathryn - who was a horrible bitch. By the time our daughter was on her way, the name had gone from “well, we can use it” to “oh, God, TWO ex wives - nope!”. And yes, names are hard. I gave out suggestions, he vetoed for MONTHS. I’m pretty sure she is named in exasperation - me throwing out a name I was ok with, him saying he was ok, and us say “ok, done.” I don’t think, at the time, either of us was thrilled with the choice, but she’s seventeen now, and it works on her.
(Some birthparents choose a name that is derivative of the birthmother’s name - our son’s middle name is his birthmother’s surname.)
Would Michi work? I had a close Japanese friend with that name years ago. I have always loved it.
Any news yet?
No news yet!
Michiko is my wife’s (deceased) mom’s name. haha. I like it too, but it, and it’s varients, are off the table apparently. Thanks of the suggestion though!
Robin?
Thinking of you. I imagine the hours must seem long, but sometimes babies take a while longer than expected.
Robin used to be a name used either for a girl or a boy, but it’s mostly used for girls now. Do you know the sex of the child you’re expecting?
yep, it’s a girl!
Is Robin on the pole, or on the honor roll?
