Ads are screwing up the site

Not so. It’s happening on every browser (Safari, Firefox, Chrome) on my Mac. Mostly, but not always on the USPS (not UPS) ad.

We’ve had multiple independent reports of this problem so it’s not local to someone’s computer. However, so far neither we nor our ad provider have been able to replicate it. To help us out, please indicate:

  1. Ads on the page when this problem occurred.
  2. Hardware, OS and version, browser and version.

So far I’m hearing:

UPS and Safari
Android Galaxy S5

Thanks.

I’m on a laptop, Google Chrome. As I posted in the sticky thread, I don’t know what the ad is selling, but I think it’s the one that has the Empire State Building at night.

Not UPS. USPS. United States Postal Service, that is.

And I get it with Firefox as well, with the added bonus that it randomly opens (and reopens after I close it) one of the “Thirteen Amazing Facts You Didn’t Know About Celebrities That Actually Turn Out To Be Mundane Facts Everyone Knows” slideshows that are in the ad block next to the USPS ad.

Chrome has also been reported more than once.

I also am finding it virtually impossible to browse the site due to the ad glitch.

OS X 10.7.5, using Chrome

By the way, it is this ad that is causing the problem.

glee and Corner_Case
Yes, I added AdBlock and things seem to be working okay. (so far)

No problems with Tapatalk.

I love how people in this thread are OK with extortion. Pay the membership fee so the website will work for you. How about using adblock so the site doesn’t get any money AND we don’t get ads. If the SDstaff want to overtly make this a paying service then they should do that rather than running ads that inject malware and make the site unusable.

I came here to make the same complaint, and saw this thread. For the second time in a few weeks, an “extra large” no video(?) ad hijacked my browser making it impossible to navigate the site. I had to leave the site and come back just to get here to bitch.
ETA: As soon as the page reloaded after posting this it happened again.
Toshiba laptop, Windows 10, Google Chrome FWIW.

Just happened to me again. USPS ad. Appeared and kept taking me to an ad at the bottom of the page. In a different thread it appeared after the first post and kept kicking me back to it there.

iMac desktop, OS X El Capitan, Safari.

Haven’t had this particular problem on my iPhone.

Happening again. The ad isn’t playing this time. Just sitting there.

Well, off to find an ad-blocker I guess. Once this annoying bit of hijackery gets fixed I’ll turn it off. Like I said, I don’t mind ads. I do mind losing control of my browser.

Yeah, there is some confusion between “I don’t want to see ads” and “the ads on this website are breaking things”. Fortunately, the site administrator seems to clearly understand the difference.

I haven’t had any problems lately, but the two computers i use have all sorts of stuff on them to limit what a website can do. One doesn’t even show the ads, and the other shows a lot of click-baity ads, but blocks the pop-under and whatever this issue is.

We put a block on the USPS ad and did some other things. Let me know of any continuing problems. We apologize for any inconvenience, and thanks for your help.

Thank you! So far it seems to be working better.

Return to sender!

Spoke too soon…stupid Scrollblock ad is back.

Yes. The USPS ad still comes up and hijacks the browser.

There is a browser that will block ads on your phone.
