I debated on whether to put this in Cafe Society or the Pit. I decided to go with the Pit, mostly because his rep says that the punch (and let’s not split hairs; the guy absolutely levels her) was, “a completely involuntary reflex reaction to people infringing on his stage space[…]It was uncharacteristic behavior that was initiated by outside uncontrolled forces.”
I have a low tolerance for violence against a woman (not that a majority of people in the US condone it). But, from watching the video, the woman was NOT in his “stage space.”
The worst part of this, in my opinion, is how casually he seems to dismiss the act, and resume playing.
I can believe the claim that he wasn’t aware whether it was a man or a woman, so I don’t really think this is a “violence against women” issue. Other than that, though… WTF, man?
Unbeknownst to the common humans, among the powers **Superdude **has is to know all the names of the superheroes and super villains, no matter how obscure. From A-Bomb to Zoom.
Really? Maybe I just don’t know the definition of “stage space”, or know what usually happens in these sorts of venues, (someone please fight my ignorance) it certainly looked to me like it was her sidling up quite close to him from behind. In fact my initial reaction watching the video is who the heck is this girl and what is she doing trying to dance up against him on stage. I also actually accept that it is possible that he didn’t know whether it was a man or a woman when he lay into her, since she came up from behind and he didn’t even glance back at her before he threw the punch.
That said, leading with a hay-maker is totally out of proportion, and afterwards just going back to playing as if nothing had happened is practically psychopathic.
WTF was she doing up there? To me, it DID seem like she was getting in the way. I also don’t think I could say for sure that he knew it was a woman. But it’s a 50/50 chance that it was if he wasn’t aware of it.
…And punching a man would be just as shitty imho. No one should be hitting anyone.
This simply is not the whole story told by the video. Yes, she sidled up from behind, but about five or ten seconds before he was facing directly towards her and could see that there was another person—clearly a woman—onstage with him. Who else was it likely to be sidling up behind him ten seconds later?
