My plans as of 9am: work until 6pm; run home, throw dinner in the oven; take the dog for a walk, get back in time to receive delivery of my four-year-old; eat snacks; watch some TV; eat dinner ( maybe in front of TV or video games!); play with some of the toys, games, or puzzles we got for Christmas; brush teeth, wash face, use the toilet etc.; read some Harry Potter ( yes, we are still reading the chamber of secrets); tell a briar rabbit/briar fox story and sing a song in bed; go to my room and read my book ( Flatland: a romance of many dimensions) until pretty confident that HalFSwordS is sleeping; turn on the TV real quiet like and watch lame New Year’s eve TV until the ball drops ( 11pm CST); crawl into bed and get a good night’s sleep. Thursday was to be a normal, if slow day at work. Friday, my dad and his girlfriend come into town and Saturday we have a combination Christmas and Birthday party ( HalFSwordS has a birthday early in January) then go to the zoo or the pool or something. Sunday, Dad and his SO drop by to see where I work before they head back home.
My plans as of 10am: work until 6pm.
Turns out HalFSwordS Mom, because there was no daycare today or tomorrow, decided to go to Grandma’s house ( about 45 minutes away) and not come back until Saturday night for a B-day dinner. Since I wouldn’t normally have him Saturday night, she’s going back to G-ma’s. I recently had a car accident and, while my car is driveable, I haven’t gotten an alignment yet and it’s not recommened for highway travel. Of course, Dad and his SO don’t want to come to town if they can’t see him…
Everyone I know has plans or has to work all night. I don’t really feel like going to a bar alone. I was feeling old and lame before… Sitting at home New Year’s eve with a Border Collie mix, wishing I had a four year old to play Scooby-Doo dominoes with… now that’s lame!

Happy New Year!
