Again with the annoying commercials!

It is heavy if you are a senior citizen and have to haul it up a flight of stairs or two.

That lady looks much too young to be a senior citizen and I doubt those tiny boxes could have turned her into Quasimoda.

Especially annoying is one selling licorice, with its mascot being some weirdo who seems to be auditioning for a new Monty Python.

She likely is not, but we are. So the light stuff is useful to us.

Saw an ad today on the TV in the breakroom about some outfit that would LOVE to give you cash for your life insurance policy, at (IIRC) about 10% the policy value. Seems seriously skeezy to me.

This is it.

I am a senior citizen and live three flights of stairs up. I’ve ordered big boxes of litter and they leave it on the front step or in the foyer of my building. They won’t bring it up. (They will bring up an envelope or a package with a meat thermometer in it and leave it outside my door. 40 pounds of cat litter?? Get real.)

Great. Another person missing my point.

What’s in that little box? An anvil?

And he is wrong. There is no such thing- IMHO- as "red’ or berry flavored licorice. Licorice, oddly, tastes like, well… licorice! (okay maybe anise)

This was cute for approximately two seconds. Makes my skin crawl.

I heard this ad in the background a lot this weekend. After watching it a few times, I realized it’s a spoof of “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” Anna “Faris”. Called in sick. The music (“Oh Yeah” by Yello). Accidentally backed a red Ferrari* out of the house.
*Remote control toy car.

The commercial has a theme. I’m not sure how many people under the age of 55 will catch it: the movie was released in 1986.

And there are those of us who were teens in the 1980s who weren’t interested in seeing it.

Is Schrödingers cat in that box?
I just don’t know.

I see your point. That lady should’ve asked for help, a cart, bring hubby or son.
Eh, no matter.

That small box did not weigh the 100lbs she’s “acting” like.

I’m sure there are many people who can’t lift a can of chili or the pan to put it in. But the actress looked healthy and young enough to carry a box of cat litter. They do have handles, btw.

I didn’t have to watch it to know I hated Ferris Bueller.

Ha, yeah, I of course caught the reference when Faris said “Bueller? Bueller? But I didn’t catch that the whole commercial was themed after the movie. I can’t say that this new data makes the commercial any less annoying for me, but I appreciate the enlightenment.

As for the age demographic, it makes sense, I think. It’s about getting meds and other things delivered from Walmart, and has been playing on the Today Show a lot, so it’s probably aimed at a Broderick-aged demo.

Thank you.

Overacting, more like.

I rather liked the ‘simple’ artwork animation, but the singing grated on my ear so badly I couldn’t pay attention to the commercial.

But the movie’s really about Cameron…

Just saw a car ad- where every one in the car plugs into their favorite entertainment movies, games, whatever- Dad, the driver just listens to music- and they drive off, like a car full of strangers.

Outback Steakhouse: A voice yelps ‘Aussie Aussie Aussie’ and the three knuckleheads eating their Outback cuisine yelp back in unison ‘Oy Oy Oy’. Not that one expects a genteel dining experience at Outback. A moot point since ours went out of business.
