A backstory for Hive, at least that’s something. Mack and Coulson covered all the ground about Daisy; possibly fighting Hive but most likely under complete control. Lincoln’s not very bright, except when he’s all sparky.
Have we seen the end of multi-girl finally?
Daisy taking out a Kree reaper just like that? I don’t buy it. She’s a Mary Sue, and it’s getting hopelessly annoying. Well, maybe the Reapers just kinda suck. And how much Cree blood is running running through her veins? Doesn’t make sense, but what’s one more plot hole?
Quotes:
Simmons: “I had to shoot him three times just to shut him up.”
Radcliff: “Took me a full hour to convince them there would be no probes of any kind.”
Radcliff: “No, no, no, no. Well, yes.”
Coulson: “I suggest running, very fast, away.”
Daisy: “Then I would rip their hearts out.”
James: “He’s got this whole Ziggy Stardust thing going on.”
Coulson: “Prepare to go in hot, safeties off.”
Grunt #1: “They were never on, sir.”
Grunt #1: “Aren’t we going to let that sink in for a minute?”
Why do they need to drain Daisy of her blood when they have a perfectly fine Kree with a melted face in the church? He doesn’t have a face, but the rest of him is fine, why can’t they drain him?
You’ve got 3 experimental subjects, yet do the same untested procedure on all of them simultaneously? That seems very unscientific. Though “After your story about aliens, I had to spend
an hour convincing them there would be no probing involved” was pretty funny.
So 3 or 4 Civil War references, but AFAICT the show isn’t really going to tie into the movie. Certainly not to the extent it did with Winter Soldier.
Daisy’s conversation with Mac at the end was IMHO the best part of the episode. She actually had some interesting points about SHIELD doing the same thing to her (and Mac) as Hive is doing.
And everyone admit it, we were all rooting for Lincoln to die after injecting himself with the antitoxin, right? He’s got to be one of the worst characters on TV today.
IMDB lists her as having Chinese-American, English, Scottish, Irish, Swiss-German, and German ancestry. No Native American.
They made a big deal that they need blood from a living Kree. That’s why Daisy paralyzed the one she was fighting. Apparently it starts to decay the moment the Kree dies.
Of course, the Kree that Daisy got blood from looked to have been dead for a very long time…
Forgot to comment on Daisy trying to finish off Mack essentially the same way Coulson killed Ward; nice symmetry. While he was flat on his back there, Mack was nearly pushing up Daisy.
AoS should have stuck to fighting enemies like Hydra, when you get to something of Hive’s threat level it makes very little sense for it not to become the Avenger’s job to deal with him.
So, why didn’t they a super grenade at Hive? Which is ignoring why they didn’t step in and help the Reaper fighting him once they actually did start fighting.
Another thing that bugged me was that there’s all this focus on saving Daisy… when Multi-Ginger-Ninja is ALSO a SHIELD agent and ALSO under the influence of Hive. But she’s not Coulson’s not-really-daughter-but-still-so-special-to-him, so **** her right?
The Hellfire/May scene was cute, but Hellfire just seemed like an idiot.
I wish instead of creating this new weird viking Kree “Reaper,” they had just made them Kree Sentrys, which are robots but they could have made them a sort of cyborg so they could still use the blood storyline. It just seems dumb that the Kree has two dudes hanging out in stealth mode orbit around earth for a few thousand years–just in case the Inhumans get uppity.
So Hive has been in off world exile for a millennium and when he is returned and takes power his plan is to build an inhuman army by:
[ul]
[li]Taking 3 trusted helpers and sacrificing all of them in an experiment by a guy he just met and has never seen work[/li][li]Signaling the Kree reapers (the only thing that can stop him) who’ve been hanging around this whole time wait for him with the intent of killing them and getting their blood[/li][li]Putting Daisy in charge of subduing a reaper by herself, a relatively new fighter with mostly untested skills against his most feared enemy[/li][li]Failing to put guards around this subdued reaper to prevent someone from removing one of only two sources of the blood[/li][li]Ripping the heart out of the second of two sources of blood because he lost his temper during his fight[/li][li]Falling back by chance to Daisy having some pure Kree blood in her veins due to an attempt to save her a year ago (wouldn’t Ward know this?)[/li][/ul]
The more I think of this the more it bothers me. This is not the plan of an evil mastermind. It’s making things up as you go along. Hive has a lack of patience and anger control issues.
Hive apparently doesn’t have instant access to his absorbed memories. Daisy told him that Ward would know she had Cree blood. He stopped (apparently spinning up the hard drive) and then remembered. And there would have been no reason for him to search Ward’s memories prior to that on the off chance that he knew someone who had received a Cree transfusion.
