Ah, Netflix. Fringe for a day, then whoops!

I got an email from Netflix, Fringe season 5 is now available! I actually went for it an watched two episodes yesterday. Today, I watched the third episode and instead of letting it auto-play to the fourth, I paused it and surfed elsewhere for a few minutes. Came back, and season 5 is gone. Well, thanks a lot! The links in the email don’t work, either.

Do I dare try Breaking Bad? They’re claiming season 5 is available for that, too.

Grr.

It’s even deleted from my viewing history. Like, “nope, never happened. Season 5 was never released for streaming.” Now can’t decide whether to call just to see if they fess up to it.

The Canadian version of Netflix is even worse. I gave it a year, and dropped it. Content compared to the US is laughable. I did get to watch all seasons of Breaking Bad while I had it though.

I suspect maybe they made it available too early by mistake?

We watched it just last night, having finished up season 5 just the day before. Excellent timing.

But yep, it’s vanished without a trace, truly Fringe-worthy. Strange. Call the Fringe team!

Waitaminit… how do you spell the big island at the center of New York City?

Just got an apology email and it will be available September 12th. Really, except for a couple of videos out of sync over the years, this is the only real boner I’ve experienced with Netflix. After thousands of shows and movies streamed since the service started, I guess that’s not too bad. I’m still really annoyed, and would be less so if I wasn’t already three episodes in.

Ditto, just got the email. At least we were able to go from the end of S4 into the opening of S5, despite the, uh, discontinuity. I can wait.

Has anyone else have Netflix refund their payment for august yet? The payment came out of my account Thursday, and was back in my account this morning.

The only reason I keep it is for my 7 year old. She watches all of the kids programming and I don’t think she has ever seen an ad in her life. The $8 per month is more that worth never having to hear, “I want that! I need that! Can I get that?!”.

Don’t blame Netflix for the Content producers’ outdated licensing schemes.

I’ve got Netflix and Amazon Prime and Netflix pulls far fewer boners. The most common gaffe is “New Episodes” flags for shows that don’t - in some cases, can’t since they’ve long since stopped production.

“New Episodes” on Netflix means episodes new to Netflix, not necessarily new in the sense of original broadcast.

I know, but they use the new episodes flag/banner when there’s nothing but the same old episodes they’ve always had. For example, the anime “Kenichi: Earth’s Mightiest Disciple” has long been done - Netflix will never get any more eps than the two seasons they’ve got now. They’ve put the “New Episodes!” flag on the show twice that I’ve seen with no change in content. The reviews have a bunch of complaints about it, one from me the second time it happened.

Is there any news on when season five of Fringe will be on Netflix Canada? Just wondering, I can’t seem to find any info on the matter.

Maybe someone else who knows will come along. I don’t know how to find that out. It’s been available in the US since September.
