"Aha! THAT'S what that Dopername means!

I never did, and I’m a Deadhead-lite.

:smack:

Mine is pretty obscure unless you listen to a certain comedy podcast.

Here’s a YouTube audio clip of Bob Ducca(played by comedian Seth Morris) reading a list of all of his ailments from the Comedy Death Ray Radio podcast. Enjoy.

Took me forever to figure out mangeorge, which I have always read as ‘Mange Ogre’.

At some point it clicked that it was ‘Man George’…like Boy George, only older.

Like Mangeorge, norinew gives a lot of dopers trouble. It reads like “Nori, new”, like someone saying they’re not old. But it’s actually “Norine W.”

I changed mine a while back, and I like this new one a lot. Silly, literary, and has my name in it - triple win!!

Your name’s Ocelot?

…someone had to say it.

I changed mine from 5-4-Fighting a little while back.

I miss the old name (might change back); it still catches me by surprise when I see it and I also feel half-naked.

It’s weird that sometimes I initially mistake cosmosdan for me: it’s the initial two rounded letters, the "sm"in proximity, then a vowel, the “sd” near each other, with an “a” near the end. Don’t know why my eye does that.

Then there’s the controversial Carol Stream.

Looks like a woman’s name, but it’s actually the name of a suburb of Chicago.

I never knew what it was. I always read it with a Kung Fu Fightinglilt. Hey, at least it’s music.
VunderBob–I’ve never thought to ask: how did you read it?

Naw, it was this band, whose song “Superman” I loved at the time I joined. But thanks for the confidence I had soul.

Yeah, my dad was in some video games a while back, you might have heard of him? :stuck_out_tongue:

I sort of went Lynyrd Skynyrd; I see it as Rhythmdyvyl.

If you’re Groundkeeper Willie and speak with a Scottish accent, that works out to be Rhythm Devil.

You’re dad is Sonic the Hedgehog? Awesome.

An incantation? Never thought of it that way. Every time I see that user’s name, my mind starts playing the Hawaiian Christmas song, Mele Kalikimaka. Sing it with me, Bing Crosby style:

Malleus, Incus, Stapes is Hawaii’s way
To say ‘Merry Christmas’ to you!

Hah, yes, someone once said they were sure I was male because my name sounded like a spell from a computer game.

I sometimes stumble over yours because I always think of a silly joke whenever I see the word “Ocelot.”

How do you titillate an ocelot?Oscillate its tits a lot.Adding the feminine “Maggie” to it, and you get where my mind tends to go when I parse your name. Not that there’s anything wrong with that…

Enjoy,
Steven

It’s funny how things come together. In this post, Giraffe says he’s 6’8", hence, I suppose, his name.

I…lack subtlety in a username.

I also remember the thread when norinew explained the breakdown – I find myself practicing the correct pronunciation every time I run across it, now.

There are several other message boards where I post under the name “Ron Miel”.
If anyone has spotted the joke they haven’t mentioned it.

What do you make of mangetout, then?
