"Aha! THAT'S what that Dopername means!

I feel a lot better seeing that I was not the only one to not get Ellis Dee.

It’s French for “eats all”. Except durian cake.

Not quite, it’s an imperative eat, not the present tense *eats *. It’s a variety of pea, where you eat the entire pod whole.

… Or is it man get out, as **Tengu **might possibly read it?

I never understood why someone would stand on a corner and tout mange. But I guess it takes all kinds.

Dude. Leave. Now.

Who said that?

I’ve always thought Maggie the Ocelot was a take off on Maggie the Cat from Cat on a Hot Tin Roof Mendacity!

And I’ve self depricatingly been saying “I’m Really not all that Bright” for so long that I can’t remember where I got it from but always wonder if the poster of that name heard it the same place I did or if I somehow picked it up from him. Either way, every time I say it (which is often) he comes to mind.

Not to Live fans, it isn’t.

I did parse mangetout correctly, actually.

‘Mange’ (whether pronounced maynj or mahnzh) is apparently one of my eye’s ‘go to’ words.

Well, I be swan!

Okay, I see there’s some disagreement here. I’d always thought Mangetout looked like something in French until a few months ago when “Man Get Out” suddenly became obvious. Am I wrong?

From this thread.

I always assumed that Exapno Mapcase was into maps – like me (no mystery there) – and that he kept them well secured.

At some point, he informed us that it’s Harpo Marx’s misreading of his own name as rendered in cyrillic letters. Which is way cooler.
