Nervous?
Yes.
Where did you get that DRESS? It’s AWFUL! And those shoes and that coat…jeez!
Seriously, this is awesome. There’s an AMC I go to all the time, and a client gave me two AMC passes for Xmas. I’ll have to ask the guy next to me to pinch me to make sure I’m not dreaming…
First time?
No, I’ve been nervous lots of times.
You can’t tell me for another two hours?
“Hey, you know what they say: see a broad to get dat booty yak 'em…”
(finish it, somebody!;))
Q
Leg ‘er down an’ smack 'em yak 'em!
Spoons,
I used to misunderstand that one:
“If they got that booty-yakum”
“Lay 'em down and smack’em yakum!”
I know that’s kinda close.
Being a drummer, I kinda “improvised” on the word “booty” sometimes and went “boodily”.
Quasi
Well, I did the best I could.
According to IDMb, yours was exactly right!
Q
No. I mean we can’t land for another two hours.
Leaffan
I believe the way that quote goes is:
Rumack: Captain, how soon can you land?
Captain Oveur: I can’t tell.
Rumack: You can tell me. I’m a doctor.
Captain Oveur: No. I mean I’m just not sure.
Rumack: Well, can’t you take a guess?
Captain Oveur: Well, not for another two hours.
Rumack: You can’t take a guess for another two hours?
Unbelievably hilarious stuff !!!
Okay, so Mr. Rilch and I saw it yesterday. Awesome. Not much of a crowd, but it was midday. Spontaneous applause for most of the cast, when they first appeared. Leslie Nielsen got the biggest hand! Some people were saying the lines, but very softly, and towards the end I could feel people tensing up when they knew a particular gag was coming. Such as “The fog is getting thicker.” [collective breath-hold] “And Leon’s getting llllllllarrrrrrrger!” Afterwards, we got free copies of the original poster! And another audience member pointed out how short it was: barely 90 minutes. No B-plot, and a pretty linear plot overall.
It appears that this is part of an ongoing AMC promotion. They’re going to show Sixteen Candles next month, and come to think of it, IIRC there was a showing of Back to the Future not long ago. I so. hope. they do Wargames.
I bought my tickets for tomorrow night’s show in advance, and now it looks likely that they’ll go to waste – the forecast calls for a major snow/ice storm to hit here tomorrow afternoon. Grrr.
I just wanted to tell you both good luck. We’re all counting on you.
Oh, the irony. ![]()
Look on the bright side, though. I’ve now got “River of Jordan” stuck in my head. To be fair, though, if that really was Lorna Patterson singing (and it did sound like her speaking voice), she was pretty awesome.
After talking to some folks from the theater, I found that hardly anyone goes to these things (buncha savages in this town…), so I went there today and returned the advance tickets I had bought. That way, if the roads are ok tomorrow, I’ll just go and buy them again.
yeeeeaaaahhhh!!!
We got fog right down to the deck, every place east of the Rockies.
