Airplane! movie

“I’ll never get over Macho Grande.”

Johnny [plugging back in the runway lights] Just kidding.

" I just want to tell you both good luck. We’re all counting on you."

I can make a hat, or a broach, or a pterodactyl!

" Oh, stewardess, I speak jive".

Hah! The scene with Shep is one of the best and most underrated in the whole movie, though best appreciated only by those who have owned large rambunctious dogs. I have that scene as a separate video clip that I’ve watched so many times – one of the best still frames in the movie is a closeup of Shep at the instant that he braces to make the big jump that knocks the airline guy down to the floor. If you pause the movie at exactly the right instant the expression on the dog’s face is priceless – a sort of mix of enthusiastic anticipation and the joy of some ancient predation instinct!

“I’ve gotta go to the airport, you can let yourself
out the back door. There’s juice in the refridger-
ator.”

“Nayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy… plllllllllllllllllllll. Whinny.”

“You ever seen a grown man naked?”

Do you like movies about gladiators?

I liked the Steven Stucker character, especially when he yanked the cord for the landing strip lights as a prank. He was the only one that acted like they were actually making a comedy.

There’s also the Howard Jarvis taxi passenger cameo which most people miss as they didn’t live in California in the 1970s, but is hilarious once explained.

“You can tell me, I’m a doctor.”

I wonder how many takes it took for them to get through that exchange.

“Where did you get that dress? And that coat? And those SHOES? AWFUL!”

“I’ve been hearing that crap ever since I was at UCLA. I’m out there busting my buns every night! Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes!”

Everyone! Assume the crash position!

Boy Trapped In Refrigerator Eats Own Foot

“Calm down, get ahold of yourself!”

“Ever been inside a Turkish prison?”

“He’s all over the place! 900 feet up to 1300 feet… What an asshole!”

By the way, I only just discovered on a recent viewing that the radar operator was played by Jonathan Banks!

No… that’s just what they’ll be expecting us to do.

OK, boys, let’s get some pictures.
