Alabama election results

Soft on crime is a dog whistle for ‘will not promote draconian police dominance of dangerous, scary minorities and immigrants’. In that regards, Jones is ‘soft on crime’ and Moore is ‘tough on crime’.

Roy Moore Sues to Block Election Result

But how did Moore do with the critical 14-17 demographic?

So, if it is off by say 3 votes, yeah, it’s inaccurate-and inconsequential.

Roy needs to hang it up. If it was a few hundred votes, sure. But 20,000 is too much to overcome.

Besides, Jones will vote with the Repubs on some things. He is a southern Scott Brown.

And here we see the truly pernicious, malevolent intent among some in that side of the contest: to plant the seed in their base that somehow it must be near impossible to have a contrary result, and thus to delegitimize the whole elections procedure. Even when it is the procedure enacted and managed by sympathetic legislatures and officials.

It is a well established rule in most states that if the vote difference is larger than the expected margin of error of the vote tallying process, the result is to be presumed valid and final and any dispute must be supported by evidence, not by “it cannot be!” Otherwise no election would ever be final.

You can imagine some of the same people come 2020 or 2024 arguing that statistically the reported count is near impossible and the Electors must ignore the certified popular tally and go with the “right” result.

The Alabama Secretary of State should go ahead and certify and the Senate should go ahead and swear Jones in.

Yeah. Ol’ Roy is dog food.

“Only” 13% of black males nationwide are felons, but the percent is much higher in some places, like inner cities and Alabama. It may just be more #FakeNews, but this page quotes the founder of the Equal Justice Initiative claiming that 34% (and growing) of Alabama black men were permanently disenfranchised in 2012. That would account for the entire discrepancy you cite.

Many national Republicans have distanced themselves from Moore, some even endorsing Jones.

If it weren’t for this, does anyone doubt that the GOP would be using every cheat they could think of to keep that Senate seat Republican?

I believe that in the south he’s what you’d call a “broke dick dog”.

It is interesting that he has passed a polygraph test.

Did you mean it’s interesting that he believes his own bullshit so deeply that he’s convinced it’s true, or is it interesting because he can lie well enough to beat a polygraph?

What is most interesting to me is that your take-away from that was “Roy Moore passed a polygraph test” and not “Roy Moore says he passed a polygraph test”.

Roy Moore says a lot of things. He says he respect the constitution; he doesn’t. He says he respect the rule of law; he doesn’t. He says he never met women that we know he met. But now you believe him when he says he passed a polygraph test.:dubious:

And that doesn’t even get into what bunkum polygraphs tests are.

Let’s be specific. He says he passed a polygraph test.

Agreed.

And Roy Moore is a goofball, but in an interesting kind of way.
I think he is a true believer; I’m not sure that he can examine himself objectively.

Rejected.

“with prejudice”, meaning don’t show up back in my court trying to argue this again.

And Jones was certified within minutes. Pretty sure the Alabama State Secretary, AG and Governor never thought they’d be this satisfied to certify a Dem.
Moore’s “support” for his suit was based upon well known Conspiracy Theorists pulling BS from their hats. In the end, as usual he blasphemed by claiming he was doing this for God.

We’ll see him as guest speaker at rallies come this next primary season as the Frothing Wingnut faction tries to run an insurgency against mere Tea Partier incumbents, those weak moderate fence-sitters :stuck_out_tongue:

PLEASE let him stay on stage all through 2018. Every time he speaks another 10 votes will go our way.

I mentioned this in more detail in the other Moore thread, so I’ll just sum it up here: Election for Alabama Governor and 5 of the seats on the Alabama Supreme Court are due to be held in 2018. Stay tuned.

If Moore was God’s candidate, and Moore lost, does that mean God is dead?

Not necessarily, it mainly means that Moore is full of shit.
