Alias 11/10 - Spoilers

Overall, a good show - lots of developments of key plotlines. Wish that Lena Olin made an appearance. Glad there was very limited adrenalin-pumping mission stuff - that gets to be too much every episode.

My one beef - next week’s previews:

The voice-over describes Vaughn as “the man Sydney loves” - well, seeing how nothing has happened and they are just supposed to be circling each other, thanks a whole heck of a lot!

It may be a minor thing, but it really bugged me.

Wow, this really shows how opinions can differ, because this is the episode that’s convinced me that Alias has jumped the shark. I tried really hard to suspend my disbelief on this one because I enjoy the action sequences so much and Marshall’s just the cutest little thing ever (note to Ken Olin: MORE MARSHALL!) but the way they’re going about things is so completely outlandish. A Senator not only running a covert intelligence oversight committee but also sitting in for a federal judge? Allowing an extremely sensitive asset like Sydney to testify before that committee? A federal death penalty being carried out in three days from sentencing? That same Senator having the power to stay the death penalty, void and reinstate an immunity agreement AND truck Jack in and out of prison (without a trial) on a whim? Not to mention the total ridiculousness of “Project Christmas” and the idea that super-spy Jack would allow his daughter to be recruited by THE SAME BAD GUYS for whom he’s working without intervening? There’s suspension of disbelief and then there’s psychotic breaks. Unfortunately I got the friends with whom I spend Sunday evenings hooked on the show and I can’t break them of it.
