Alias 2.2 - Lena Olin as Lector <SPOILERS>

Okay - I’ll start a thread for this week, too. (I know that it is on opposite the Sopranos, but no one tapes this?)

I thought it was great, if only for the long, gravity-laden stares of Lena Olin (mmmmmmm, Lena Olin).

I thought it was good that Syd ignored her mom’s advice and it was good that it played out - predictable, but a legitimate set up for future control/trust issues. Also, the references to Silence of the Lambs, with Lena Olin in the Lector role locked in her cell but messing with peoples’ heads and with Syd as Clarisse, were obvious, and well done - IMHO, they infused the goings-on with more stuff under the surface…they were speaking in a language we knew, but wasn’t overdone

Cool stuff happened, more good use of genre (i.e., Bond-like spy shenanigans) to focus on characters and their relationships.

bump

Really - no comments?

The show isn’t good enough?
The characters are involving enough?
Too busy watching Sopranos?
How come this show doesn’t foster discussion?

no big deal, just curious…

I guess most of us have HBO.

Good show, so glad I stuck with it, and am so glad the new season has started. Although, in my experience IRL, this show seems to be the kind of show people tape and watch later. So give it time and maybe a couple of bumps as needed.

Lena Olin is great, not to mention the show now has two major hotties. But I hope she escapes before too long, the Lector angle could wear out its welcome for me quickly. I want a good face to face conflict with her and Syd’s Dad on the outside.

I guess if you want to lure more people into this thread you need to mix in some Simpsons references or wonder who Sydney would shove into a jet engine…

The letters this week: B E H O
(last week it was P C L)

Brian

Cool - thanks for tracking. Any ideas what all of the letters were for last season? And did you try to solve them?

I didn’t pay attention 1st season, But I read on AICN something to the effect of “are the letters highlighted random?, Herc doesn’t think so” Si decided to pay attention this season.

BEHO might be BEHOLD, but what PCL is…

Hope it isn’t encoded too deep, I’m not going to bother if it is…

Brian

BEHO PCL = HELP COB

It’s a plea on behalf of the beleaguered American corn farmer.

I like this show but it’s unfortunately going on my “it conflicts so I can’t watch it” pile.
