Hello hello.
I heard somewhere that one of the albums (not sure which) corresponds perfectly to the movie Alice in Wonderland- that is, when you play the music, the song and mood completely matches the action of the movie. Does anyone know anything about that?
Thanks!
I thought it was an urban legend about The Wizard of Oz and Led Zeppelin… heard it was debunked too.
Maybe somebody more knowledgable will be along shortly to clarify.
it may not be Led Zeppelin but someone else. any ideas?
Actually, Snopes is kind of indeterminate about how realistic the urban legend is. It was Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon and The Wizard of Oz.
I don’t know what they mean by “indeterminate.” Everyone involved has denied there was any connection between Dark Side of the Moon and Wizard, and the belief is based on the false assumption that Dark Side was recorded on CD.
Has anyone actually tried this? This page has several of these coincidence, if you start both the album & movie at the right time. I’ve heard it works, but just from notorious stoners I wouldn’t trust ordering my dinner.
Of course, some of the things on that page are like this: “063) (S) At the transition from Speak to Me to Breathe the Tin Woodsman straightens out his leg, and begins dancing to the music (somewhat).”
In other words, color me unconvinced.
The Alamo Drafthouse, the local indie theatre in town, runs this calling it “Dark SIde of the Moon” and I’ve seen it. The synchronization is pretty impressive in the beginning but you have to play the album three times to go the whole movie and by the end, it definitely starts to seem a lilttle thin.
There’s a discussion of this phenomenon, with links and all, going on right here at the moment.
I did it with some friends close to 15 years ago. We got maybe 20 minutes into it and got bored and did something else. There are a couple of coincidences but nothing profound. Certainly not intentional.
I am reading this thread when I Don’t Know How To Love Him comes on the radio. To my great astonishment I find I can synchronise the OP with the music of this Jesus Christ Superstar classic ditty in a most seamless fashion, as follows:

Remarkable.
I’m fairly convinced that there’s something to it. You start playing Dark Side of the Moon when the MGM lion roars for the third time. This site has a list of things that sync:
If you’re in a weird mood I highly recommend trying it. There used to be a Google video of the whole thing, but now there are just clips.
Which Alice? Disney animated? The X-rated one? The black-and-white surrealistic one? The live action one from a few years ago? The live-action one from the '80s? The numerous others I can’t think of at the moment?
Check YouTube for “Lateralus In Wonderland.” Disney’s* Alice In Wonderland* synched to Tool. Mildly entertaining, but not profound.
There’s a Beatles picture showing them crossing Abbey Road which proves Paul is dead.
Uncanny!
My boyfriend and I tried this (Wizard and Dark Side of the Moon- never heard of Alice/Zeppelin) a few years ago when we finally had the appropriate assortment of recordings and corresponding appliances in one room. At the end we agreed that we could see how someone would make those connections. We also concluded that we would’ve found whole thing utterly amazing if we’d done it when we were supposed to -
