No one can deny that Ridley Scott has made some very influential and enduring movies, but in recent decades he seems to have pretty questionable judgment about screenplays.
Must agree. Who makes a movie where both lead characters drive off of a cliff at the end to their certain death? No tentpole franchise there !!! 
Heh. But of course I wasn’t including T&L in the list of his movies made from lousy screenplays.
Seriously, his catalog from the past decade is singularly unimpressive. I happened to think well of 2008’s *Body of Lies *(though many others did not), but aside from that it’s a dreary lot.
Eh, the first two (great) Alien movies both feature people prancing around in skimpy little underwear in the waking from deep sleep scenes. A little T&A doesn’t indicate that the movie is good or bad.
Like others, I was burned by how shitty Prometheus was (and, honestly, so many of the various Alien movies have been) that I’m waiting for some good reviews or a night when I’m good and drunk.
What about The Martian?

Hope this is better than Prometheus. I couldn’t even get half-way thru that.
It’s a fair question; I’m honestly not sure how good or bad that movie is, because I’d read the book right before seeing the movie --and that affected my assessment.
