Unfortunately, you’ve asked a hypothetical question. As you state it, both offenders should, at the very least, get the same sentence. I hope (and I’m sure I’m wrong) that there was SOME reason why the molester of an “unrelated” child got a lesser sentence that the molester of “their own child.” Please understand, I in no way endorse or condone or engage in molestation, I just suspect that, maybe, some other factor was involved that, possibly, warranted a lesser sentence. Having said that, I can’t possibly understand what could mitigate child molestation in any form.

Why do people that rape their own children get a slap on the wrist? Interesting question. We come from a society that still looks on children as chattel, to some degree.
Until recently, a man could beat his children and/or wife until they were black and blue, and the law wouldn’t think to interfere. Spousal rape wasn’t even a crime until recently! And incest, well that involved CHILDREN. And if the wife had few rights, children had NO rights. So incest was ignored or tolerated.
Things change slowly. As time goes by, and the stigma decreases a bit, I think that both incest and spousal rape will be prosecuted more, with lengthier sentences.
In the meantime, try not to let these skeletons in your closet interfere with a healthy, productive, happy life.

Look, I may have over reacted to Konrads first post, please keep in mind, I was writing mine when he posted his and so when I saw what he wrote I was still emotionally bleeding.
However, please note that I did say that revenge is not the answer. Life brings it’s own revenge. People do pay for what they do, sooner or later, in one way or another.
My dad paid , he died at 37 yrs of age, while his wife was carrying his 10th child, the son who looks just like him, that he never saw. He never saw any of his grand kids, and was estranged from 1/2 his kids. I have already said what happened to my grand-dad.
And for the record, I am not sorry for what I said to him. This is not a joking matter, I have seen too many lives destroyed by this.
Maybe I was too harsh, I don’t know.
Oh just for anyone who doesn’t already know it, Lion is my husband, he has had to live with watching his wife go through all the hell a person like me goes through, he has also helped me to see that not all men are rotten , and that I am not just a piece of meat. But it has taken years, and a lot of paitence and love, something I never get enough of but a big part of the reason I am as sane as I am is because of him. That’s why he didn’t find Konrads “joke” funny.
He has been there for the tears and nightmares. He has also seen the healing process.
I don’t know what the answer is, all I know is that everyone needs to know that anyone could be a child molester, a friend, a relative, a doctor, a stranger, anyone.
Death threats aren’t funny, but I do not know what I might have done to konrad when I read his post if he were in the same room with me IRL , so I spewed at him, here on the board, in the pit.

Threatening a person with physical violence over something posted on an internet message board is crass, clueless, assinine and stupid. I am surprised at some of the people who did so.

Sorry I’m late, but I just wanted to note that while Konrad’s joke was tasteless, up until Ayesha’s post, none of the reponses to this thread were serious in nature. I can understand Ayesha’s response, emotionally vulnerable as she was at the moment, but many of you seem to have posted your "me too"s without really thinking about it. It seems that lately, a lot of people post to tell someone that they should rot in hell before they have even thought about the topic.
And Mojo, if you really think that Konrad should die for making an incredibly tasteless joke (regardless of whether or not you intend to kill him yourself), well, all I can say is that you’re problems are much worse than his.

I read Ayesha’s story, and I am really glad she felt close enough to us to share something so personal, but in a troll- induced thread, it was doomed to cause her more pain. Something like that belongs in a serious thread. Sadly, while she was pouring out her heart, Konrad was continuing to relpy to the troll in the appropriate fashion - sarcasm. it was only after Ayesha’s post that anything was taken seriously . (Don’t you see Ayesha? Konrad wasnt making light of your pain, he was making light of the lizard who wrote “sexily abused”)
As for ayesha’s story:
Did it surprise me? Not in the least. We hear these stories all the time, on talk shows, tv dramas, every second woman I know has a story to tell.
Does this diminish Ayesha’s pain? Certainly not!
Does this serve to de-sensitize the general public ? Hell yes!
Once upon a time, the sexual violation of a child would leave the offender villified, ostracized, etc. Now we have laws to protect the offender from harassment!
This is not the forum to discuss a serious subject like punishment/prevention/rehabilitation of sex offenders. This is the pit, and we cannot have a serious discussion here…
