All Diablo2 Talk here.........

Dracul’s and an Occy highlighted tonight’s runs.

We’re moving, so I’ll be unavailable for Bnet play for probably a few days. Best case scenario, late tomorrow night, worst reasonable case, some time mid next week.

Keep the mules fresh, and it’s fine to use my sorc.

Trying to get the set together with Yeti and I’m getting realm down now… I guess to many ins and outs too quickly…

Yeah, we got shut down for a while there…the good news is that we didn’t lose any high-end uniques…the highest unique lost was a bloodletter I believe, but on the other side of the coin, I think we lost the bul kathos set sword. :frowning:

We’re trying to reorganize the set items by creating character names such as Og_CathanSander and Og_ArticDeath, etc. You’ll find the low level set characters on account #5 and I think we’ll re-organize the higher end set items on account #4. Takes a bit of work do though, and we’ll have to slow it down a notch so we don’t get caught with our pants down.

My summoner is level 87 and won’t ever get close to 1000 life… well unless you consider 900 close… he may make that, as he’s at 853 now but I doubt it. His resists are in the negatives except fire which is a whopping 4. The key is skelly mastery and summon resist. Max mastery and get 15 or so in resist after equipment bonuses. I don’t do skelly mages except for the point I need to get revives. I use the points I don’t use from mages to get bone spirit maxed and up bone spear as far as I can to kill bosses and to get a couple kills to start a corpse explosion chain going. I just rushed Ian (Yeti’s son) to hell Baal. Gloams will kick the crap out of me, so I avoid them whenever possible and get very careful when I can’t avoid them.

As for curses, I just get one point in the ones I need to get to Decrepify, then put a point there.

I use my summoner to magic find, if I equipped him to tank and to get his resists somewhere decent I could go just about anywhere fairly easily. Against hell Diablo, I didn’t lose a skelly warrior at all while helping Ian to kill him and I lost 1 against the Ancients. As for a mercenary, the best is a nightmare Act2 might merc, he ups the damage that my summons do.

I’m going to be hopping on a little later tonight to rummage through my current ladder stuff. I haven’t played in over a month, i think, and i’m unlikely to be coming back in the near future. Since I won’t be playing, I have a lot of items that i don’t need to keep hanging on to. If people are on, i’ll fork over some of the stuff that i don’t want to keep. If anybody wants annis, i probably have 5 or 6 to get rid of.

A very profitable night. My necro had his lucky boots on and found a Stormshield and an Azurewrath. I also saw theckhd. All in all, a good night.

I return. Story of my departure is boring and … well, boring. I’m back now, so I imagine I’ll be on for a good bit tonight. Tomorrow fizzy will be away for a few days, so … yeah, I think I’ll be able to get an hour in here and there.

I’m back now, too. Expect to see me on tomorrow.

Don’t max Fire Mastery unless you have a lot of points to spare. Put one point in it at 30, of course, but you shouldn’t put your second point in mastery until you have Fireball itself maxed and a total of 16 points in synergies (presumably mostly Meteor, though Firebolt is also a synergy for Hydra). After that, I think that optimum is to alternate between synergy and mastery.

And I’d like to take a look at that ethereal Legendary Mallet, too, if it hasn’t been re-rolled solid yet.

For paladin items, the Guardian Angel is icing on the cake for the team paladin, but if we have other paladins still in need of one, by all means give them priority. If we get another one, and a Guillaume’s, then Boss will be all set for any situation, and will probably never need another point in dexterity (all in vitality from here out). He also currently has a Herald of Zakarum which does almost nothing for him; we should probably trade off at least one of them (or both, if nobody else needs it).

Also, punha, my sorc is still holding on to (but not using) the Occulus. I was hoping to see you before I left, but we’ll just have to transfer it next time we’re both on (tomorrow?).

Finally, there has been the suggestion that we set a regular time each week for mule rushes. Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday nights look good for me for the forseeable future.

Just because (as nearly as I can tell) there’s no cookie-cutter formula for it, I want to make an Amazon build centered around the Impale skill. Maxed Impale, obviously…and not really sure what else to do with it. I think I’ll be staying out of the bow and crossbow skill tree. I was thinking Valkyrie, as well as the assorted passive skills that boost Valkyrie. I’ve got a unique spear called the Impaler which ignores target defense and gives +5 to Impale among other nifty little mods, so I’m thinking I probably won’t need to put points into Inner Sight or Penetrate. What kind of distribution would you guys recommend for the remainder of my skill points? (Like I said, I’ll probably be putting my remaining points into Valkyrie and passive skills, but if someone wants to make a compelling case for bow/crossbow skills I’ll listen.)

Since I’ve never made (or even heard mention of) an Impalazon (?), I may be talking right out of my butt here… but here goes.

The Impale skill I believe increases damage and causes extra wear on the weapon, meaning you’ll have to repair quite often. It also only hits one enemy per attack, so while it may be good for bosses, it won’t be good for attacking groups of enemy. I’ve never found spear zons to be very effective, but I’ve never gone totally spear either. The Impaler (IIRC) is not a very good spear though, so I wouldn’t go designing a character around one. There are some very good damage spears though, so while I wouldn’t count on the Impaler, one of these others may do the trick.

As for skills, check the synergies for impale. If there are some, put points in it. Put a point in each evading and dodging skill. You’ll need more eventually since you won’t have a shield to block but I’m not sure you’ll have the points available to get any more. I’d go for Fend, this is a multi attack skill and can be used against groups. For physical immunes you’ll have to get one or more of the lightning skills that can be used with a spear and it’s important to get some points into the synergies, any points you have left over should go here. Lightning Fury cannot be used with a spear and neither of the poison skills can be used with a spear. And of course you’ll need a Valkrie…

That’s a heck of a lot of points right there. Good luck, you’ll probably will have to experiment to find the best skill arrangement, or look for build guides to assist you on the way.

If you want to look for Build Guides, try www.diabloii.net and look in the lefthand column for the Strategy Compendium. I would check and give you the full address, but that site is blocked for me at work.
(Disclaimer: As I wrote earlier, I’ve never made, thought of, or heard of an Impalazon until I saw the previous post. Any opinions written above could be so full of crap that even flies wouldn’t go near them)

Well, I’m back from 10 days in New Mexico! So, I’ll be back around. I am moving in a few weeks, and at that point it might take me some time to get online in my new place.

Last night I beat my trapassassin through most of Act III Hell. Gloams and lag were kind of a pain, but if I was careful I didn’t get myself killed.

Well darn. I think I have 13 points in mastery now (I got quite tired of not having any fire skills). However, the sorc is only level 57, so 8 more points from skil quests and 31 from leveling (88 is a respectable level) shold give me 39 points, the most I’ll need assuming I don’t have more than one currently in firebolt or fireball. Any road, I will go with maxing fireball, then pump bolt. I’m thinking Raven Frost/Dwarf Star for pubbing and dual nagels for MFing, and I’m expecting resists to take a dive when LH gear is switched on (Splendor we can make at some point; remember, 84 str with Anni).

At this point I’m pumping life and mana about equally. I have about 400 of each (haven’t touched str since I pumped it to 64 very early on). 31 more levels will mean about 160 more in each, and Lam Esen twice for mana along with Golden Bird for 20 life each time should put mana at 600 naked and life a bit higher. With some Tal’s stuff on along with a Lidless, I’ll probably be close to 1K mana (2K with shouts from a tank/+cry barb) and 650 life (more if I go pubbing, though I’ll be putting on straight-up tank gear for pub runs, and that life will more’n double with BO). A good bit of that mana will disappear with wep switch.

Lo, how an item blooming from 'thereal stem was dropped
In Hell Baal, even, running, onto the ground it plopped.
It came to me that hour, as 't fell quite gracefully down
Went I to Larzuk – THEN STOPPED!

It’s in my stash.

That should help me a bit. Her res are currently tehhhhh suxx0r.

My one bad night is Tuesday. Currently I’m registered for an 8 am class that is so getting dropped (8 AM … on a FRIDAY? Me no sink so) in lieu of either another class or two - the second being a one-credit clas - and I’ll probably take the challenge exam (fancy word for basically taking a comprehensive exam covering class topics. It’s $75/credit hour attempting to be skirted) because - hello - it’s finite math, which I think I may have covered at some point in the past. Website indicates that this version is basically algebra for people who can count without using their toes.

And an impalezon looks like a death wish to me. No shield, so you’ll need good +res gear, which limits your choices. Also you’ll need either substantial leech or insanely high dmg and +FHR. Oh, and have fun chasing ranged units down.

punha, those absorb rings will do wonders for survivability, even with low resistances. Those are the rings my old season sorceress used, and even with fire and cold resists around zero, neither was a threat to her. Energy shield will also help. Note, though, that you do not have lightning absorb, so for Baal runs, I would strongly recommend that you make some effort to max your lightning resistance, even at the expense of other resists if necessary.

Coin, I’ve never played an Impaler, either (and good for you for not going cookie-cutter!), but my first thought is that you probably want to use something indestructible or self-repairing for it, or you’ll have to run back to town after every fight. The Hone Sundan unique yari does about triple the damage of the Impaler, and also has three sockets, crushing blow, and self-repair. And once you get to elite weapons, the Steelpillar unique War Pike does about twice as much damage as Hone Sundan and is indestructible. Or you could go with a magic or rare spear with the suffix “of self-repair”, “of quick repair”, or “of ages”. And in any event, you’ll want to put a point each into Penetrate (the first point goes a long way) and Inner Sight (since it’s a prerequisite of Valkyrie). Remember, gear with “+1 to all skill levels” or the like will only boost skills which you already have.

Respectfully submitted:

30 from 3x Anya
75 from spike
19 from shield
44 from armor
33 from amulet

200+ ltg res, over 75 in Hell. That’s with wizspike, PD lidless, Tal’s (skins give about 15 less) armor, amulet and nothing else. Switching to Baba/Splendor, of course, causes a bit of a drop in res;)

We have an Amn’ed Steel Pillar available. Check the reqs, though (165 str, 100 dex). Coin, for my money, is welcome to the worse of the two Arkaine’s we have, which will give +skill, 30% fhr and +.5 vit per lvl. Reqs are, again, decently steep (165 str, IIRC).

Ah, memories…
LookAMonkey was killed by a Burning Soul
hotNhorney was killed by a Burning Soul
DaPimpMasta was killed by a Burning Soul
LookAMonkey was killed by a Burning Soul
hotNhorney: screw this
LookAMonkey was killed by a Burning Soul
hotNhorney has left the world (Diablo’s minions weaken)

Good lord, I saw that thing after a recent power Meph run. 200-500 damage or something. Level req. is 69.

Ogs_Seeker is lvl 73 and waiting for some better gear. I don’t know where any of our non-mine Wizspikes are or where any of our Skins are. I should have muled, but neglected to, Tal’s mask and belt. Ah well.

Tonight, plans? Thoughts?

Chronos mentioned something about a rush tonight. What time (and also post what time it is where you are) works for y’all? I’m fairly sure I can do it any time after 6, though that can be moved up or down. It’s 15 of 11 right now.

I can do pretty much any time, so long as we decide on what that time is in advance. If I don’t hear otherwise, I’ll assume 7/8/9/10 PM P/M/C/E, since that’s when we did the last one. And with more practice under my belt, a Lower Resist wand and Conviction on the quester, and my merc currently bearing The Sword, I don’t anticipate any significant problems from immunes, either.

7pm PDT sounds good to me (and Ian)…any earlier might be a hassle…I’m kid-sitting the youngins while me wiff is at a bridal shower tonight.

I’ll probably use one of the mules from the #1 account so we can have the mule enter a hell game that would be currently running to pick up stuff instead of burning in a new norm game. Well, that’s what my intent is…

Punoqllads, I think I remember that game last night! Thank goodness for T-Gods and 85 max resist.

Found Griswold’s Heart, Tal’s Lidless Eye, Wizardspike (Ian got it) last night…

Sorry, but I had to laugh at the The Sword part… It IS a rather good specimen though…

I’ll be on and hopefully stay awake for the whole run.
