All Diablo2 Talk here.........

Do remember, Who_me?, that if you are playing with a barb higher than lvl 30 all your skills will be +1, so you’ll be working with more effective curses. And as you know, I am singing fool.

Yes, I know that punha:wink:

You were the one I most wanted to get an opinion from… well, you and voltaire. With my small army keeping the baddies busy and giving my party mates room to work with, it should be much easier killing them. Decreptify will do for the physical immunes, and Lower Resists are for the spell users.

Fenris and I were running the Pit last evening and even though my LR drops all resists about 50%, I found some Lightning immunes that remained immune after I cast LR on them. I know I have to raise LR. I’d like to know what curses will help the party kill. I can see Vol’s sorc being the primary power, but decrepify will assist you and Fenris in your mostly physical damage attacks. With MDSL’s assasin and the two druids, they do physical and magic/elemental damage, so both curses will work to help them also.

Who_me?, were those LIS also LE? Being [C/F/L]E will automatically raise an enemy’s resistance to it.

Personally the easiest thing in terms of killing speed, for me, is to have stuff decrepped. I do not do a lot of non-physical damage with frenzy, but amp only makes things take more damage. With my high physical damage and vol’s high elemental damage, I can’t think of anything that poses a problem to us.

Oh. The singularly most annoying thing (beyond even lag for me … maybe) about a necro is the number of revives y’all can have. Revives, not skeletons. Work on your skellys and whatever golem you’ve gone with. Do not do much with revives. The reason is that it can be damn near impossible to figure out what is a revive and what is an actual baddy.

So. Decrep. Fire golem, probably. Bone Spirit the stuff that does mana drain, too. And we’ll see about your gear. We might be making you a Delirium helm, who knows?

Well I’ll keep joining in: two can run it quicker than one, you get better drops with two players and our characters aren’t really in competition for stuff. Plus with the GULL trick, I can up my MF to like 250-300 with the sorc and (I think) still survive in Hell

So I guess this would be a good time to say that I think my guy is better off with IK belt and boots than TGod’s and War Trav? This coming from no recent play so much as just a gut feeling. Plus any vit I’d lose I will get back with charms I’ve yet to transfer (and levels this guy has yet to get and stat and skill quests…).

And this would be a good time to say that IIRC I have Io. I know I have Ist. I doubt I have Lem. So we shall see on that helm.

Which Pit are people running? Swampy Pit, Pit of Acheron or just plain old The Pit?

“The Pit” in the Tamoe (?) Highlands in Act one.

BTW–Pun, I was poking around your characters comparing tiaras and, since I didn’t know when you were coming back, I made sure that your mules on your main acct wouldn’t expire so you don’t need to worry about that*.

Lemme know if you need me to do it again, I’d be happy to.

*I think it’s all of 'em. The realm went down right as I tried to do the last one. If I didn’t, I’ll get it later for you.

Hmmm. What’s so special about that one? It’s just like all the others IME, except you don’t have an area waypoint to use: you have to go via Outer Cloister.

The special thing there is that the level of the boss and champion monsters there is such that in Hell you can get drops of (supposedly) higher quality than any other place in the game, including Baal, Meph, etc. I haven’t found that it is very efficient though, so I don’t do it much unless I’m holding a game for muleing or some such.

Yes, the trick with MF mercs only works if they kill stuff, so “let em go” and follow them making sure they don’t die.

I have a couple of cool necro things in my mule accounts I think, so remind me next time I see you on and I’ll show you.

Punha, I have a Ko if you need it for something.

Oh, and Punha if you find that you don’t need those War travelers…Or the TGod…

MDSL, I think the Travs will go to vol unless he does not want them, and the TGod will either stay for my next char or go to … was it Who_me? who had a javzon? Someone wanted one very dearly.

On another note, I had a dream that I had made a novasorc a night or two ago. Very bizarre. A novasorc, combined with a left-click freezing spell such as Orb (Blizzard, or thunderstorm, whichever is the cold spell, can’t be equipped left-click, can it?) along with a smattering of frost nova, would make for a very capable Countess runner. Or just some frost nova and more regular nova, with the occasional orb thrown in for damage, because frost nova itself is, shall we say, not high on the damage meter IIRC. Good for slowing stuff, but not for damaging it.

I can’t recall, but Frozen Orb definitely can. As to your plan: before I lost all my saves I had an Orb/Nova sorc who was doing plenty fine in SP Hell.

So, just a few days ago I bought the Diablo II battlechest, having never owned any of the diablo games, and never having played them outside of an hour or so with the first one at a friend’s once. Fun. However, I’ve run into a snag.

Here I am, activating seals in what I take to be the prelude to the final confrontation with Diablo himself at the end of Act IV. Aside from getting my butt kicked by spontaneously appearing monsters a few times when Leap fails to extricate me, all is well. However, the final seal won’t activate. It’s the one by itself straight past the big pentagram thingy, not of of the pairs in the side galleries. I click on the seal, and nothing happens. No shiny rays of light reaching upward, or nifty sound effects, or uber-monsters. Very anticlimatic, I must say. What gives? Is the game trying to protect me cuz I’m only a level 26 barbarian and will be slaughtered over and over by the Lord of Terror? (Which will undoubtedly happen, but where’s the fun in not being able to even try?)

Level 26 should be fine. Make sure you’ve actived all four of the other seals. There should be 2 on the left and 2 on the right. DeSeis should appear after the fifth at the top of the map. After you kill him, you’ll fight Diablo.

Level 26 as a barb should be … okay. I’d wait until level 30. But then I am used to high chars, so level 50 for me is a low-end char (in the game itself, not in terms of fighting Diablo in Norm).

Gorsnak, I had that problem just earlier today… I think it’s a funky glitch. I just left, killed some baddies, came back, and all was well. Sometimes while I’m playing online certain items/locations decide to not register for me.

Something similar happens in Throne of Destruction. We never did work out how to fix it, just made a ng (new game) when we saw that no baddies were coming for us anymore (and it wasn’t a matter of killing Lister and waiting for a sixth wave). I’d just save and exit if you’re not trying desperately for the quest. ::shrug::

Magic finding went well tonight. Voltaire, Fenris, a friend of vol’s, and myself were in on the action. Fenris now has a Harlequin Crest (shako), I have a Djinn Slayer and a Lycander’s Aim. We also found a Lightsaber and an elite throwing axe with mad damage. I think the friend got those. Those are all of them that I remember, I hope vol took something for himself…

Gah. Saved, reloaded, cleared out most of Hell a second time, 5th Seal still doesn’t activate. :frowning: Annoying glitch, this. Should I patch, maybe? It’s straight off the disk at v1.07.
