They were clearly saying that they think claims that this “ruins” Kavanaugh’s life are overblown, because even if this derails his career aspirations for supreme court justice, he’s still got a lifetime career as a powerful judge in DC. Not exactly a life ruined.
I do think we need to be fair here. He posted that before Ford’s accusation. Since then, he posted a a couple thing about whether what was accused was attempted rape (first saying no because he didn’t have the full accusation, then saying yes), and comments how blaming someone else for the attempted rape was a dick move, but otherwise stayed out of it.
He may frustrate the hell out of me, but he’s not a rape apologist. (At least, as far as I’ve read.)
Meh. Trump himself has admitted to sexual assault in the same vein. Frankly, if Bricker says “oh, dear me, I believe it likely that Kavenaugh committed a crime unto American Law, we should find a different candidate,” I would roll my eyes, as he’s already admitted that he’s willing to accept a President who admits to sexually assaulting women as long as he’s a Republican. Why should I believe that he gives a fuck whether or not Kavenaugh assaulted someone, except insofar as it affects Kavenaugh’s chances of being approved?
And, at this point, “staying out of it”/backing out of the conversation when it gets too sticky to publicly stand by your man is no defense.

Obviously, I disagree. More than anything, the dope is a safe space for old men and it’s not just uninterested in other views and experiences, but actively hostile to them. It’s why people can call this board liberal with a straight face while ignoring its endemic misogyny. This board has a real problem when it comes to rape and sexism and its why its dying. It’s the same old men having the same conversations over and over and when someone points out that some of what their saying is fucked up, they get shouted down.
I think people can have blind spots, and misogyny is one of them; progressives also tend to be unaware of other biases too, such as those about race.
