After three weeks a serious hack attack brought the server down.
The following six weeks have been spent redesigning the site under a new neutral premise, testing it on uncertain servers, before finally finding a safe and secure home to grow and expand from - reluanched as comparative-religion.com
So if anyone wants me I’m busy building up my forum at
All right, all right, as usual, Polycarp is right. Not only have I signed on, I plan on recommending it to HJay if he ever gets his internet connection back up. Besides, it looks like I’ll be needing a new religious message board to hang out at.
That place, so far, looks a lot less confrontational than any religion MB I’ve ever seen. Of course, there are also fewer than 500 posts there, too. If there were a Pit there I’d have joined already.
What? Me, cynical? Me thinking I might explode? Perish the thought!

Actually, you’re right. It’s all nice and friendly at the moment, but every online community changes as it grows.
Last site I built up was a philosophy site on MSN. With all due respect to them, it attracted a lot of “fringe” people. Having an intelligent conversation became quite difficult.
No doubt it is only a matter of time before the hardliners challenge comparative-religion.com and inter-faith dialogue faces flames. But that’s the challenge of managing a forum - being able to maintain an original direction and sense of identity, when community membership will essential provide their own identity pressures.
So much as I’m looking to see the place grow - and grow it will - I know this is going to be a difficult ride. But interestnig as well. I knew that before I started. A toast, to the future, whatever it brings.
