After that, I hope we have a poll for what’s the best REM album. It’s been a lot of fun for fans, digging out the old albums and listening to long forgotten songs.
Yeah, I can see how Cafe Society will be a mess if every album from every popular band is made into a poll. But it’s probably just a fad that will die out. If it doesn’t, what would be the harm of a sub-forum for polls?
No, they aren’t “clogging” anything. They aren’t preventing any other threads from being posted. If the threads you’re interested in fall off the front page, whose fault is that? If anybody has something to post, the thread will pop back up to the top.

OK, Mr. Dibble, just for that, I’m starting one for each Jam album…that way, you MUST read and vote…MWAHAHAHA!
What I find annoying about them is the wording –
“What’s the best song off of Revolver?”
“Off of”? What the hell is that?
It should be “What’s the best song on Revolver?”
And let me just get these peeves out of the way while we’re at it–
– “XYZ Corp. is based out of Los Angeles.” No, they’re based in Los Angeles.
– “The story centers around a retired policeman.” No, it centers on or revolves around him.
Did I miss something here? Is this some massive project going on, or did someone just make one sometime and other people copied?
I don’t know, but it’s gotten beyond old.
Whenever you think “sheeple” is just a really stupid internet meme, you find out how sadly true it is.
That’s the question I ask myself every time I open this forum lately.

I’m playing a sad little tune for each and every one of you on my very own World’s Smallest Violin™. And then I’m going to post a poll to Cafe Society to see which tune y’all think’s the best, of course.
To me, it’s just like a conversation - at present, lots of people in the room are talking about their favourite albums, and their favourite songs from those albums. Maybe I’m just a boring, irritating kind of guy, but it’s the sort of thing that comes up all the time in my real life conversations.
Is it just the polling feature that galls some of you?
Well, I think I’ve got enough options for my “Who are the biggest whiners on the SDMB” poll.
This topic made me want to post a “best song on [some album]” poll.
Just sayin’.
I stopped voting in them because I grew tired of them. The “what’s the best song on” polls are just repetitive. Eventually most people will tire of them. I only hope the thread starters will stop once they only get a handful of responses.
I think it’s just the sheer number of them that’s bothering people. You know, “What’s your favorite song on album A”, “What’s your favorite song on album B”, and so on, sort of ad nauseum. And it’s not that, personally, it bothers me, or that I think anything needs to be done about it. I just feel really left out of Cafe Society right now, because I’ve never heard of any of these albums and so don’t have an opinion.
At present, the first page of Cafe Society contains at least 33 threads, including the top four, about TV shows I’ve never seen and never intend to see. Should I complain about that?
