All time greatest "Simpson's" moments

In no particular order…

Bart and Homer go around the house trying to fix everything with firecrackers after they successfully fix a stuck drawer. They stick loads of firecrackers in Lisa’s VCR and Computer to fix it. Then it blows up and destroys the room.

Homer says, “Man, it’s gonna take a lot of firecrackers to clean up this mess.”

Marge goes to the hospital and Lisa has to take care of everybody. Homer comes down stairs in the morning in his underwear.

Lisa says, “Dad, where are your clothes?”
Homer: “I don’t know.”
Lisa: “Don’t tell me mom dresses you.”
Homer: “uuuhhhh, er one of her friends.”

The one where Marge sells the Flanders the “murder house” and goes to check on them because she feels guilty and finds them all lying on the floor covered in red and thinking they are dead, she screams. The scream wakes ned and he explains that they were painting rod and tod’s room red and fell asleep. Rod (maybe todd?) covered in red (blood) says

RED ROOM RED ROOM… OVER THERE (pointing)

I about pissed my pants. Great shining reference.

Also Ralph’s best line
“My cats breath smells like cat food”

I think my favorite Simpson’s moment was the entire episode of “22 stories” or whatever it was where they miffed with Pulp Fiction.

punk snot dead,
broccoli!

This is like choosing your favorite child.

When Homer goes to space has a classic sequence. Homer’s chips get loose and are floating. He then proceeds to fly after them and eat them one by one with the music playing. Unfortunately he’s headed straight for the ant farm. They break free. Jump down to earth where the News goes to their camera in the shuttle and a ant gets on the lens. It looks monstrous. Kent Brockman then proceeds to swear allegience to the new alien conquerors.

Or

The entire monorail episode. It had maybe one minute tops down time. And that’s spread throughout the entire show.

There are far too many to choose from. I thought the bit when they all took Mr. Burns’ boat into international waters was great. Between the pirates, the Coast Guard, and the monkey fights there was very little time where something good wasn’t going on.

They showed the “Shari Bobbins” episode last night—I have seen it maybe half a doizen times and still fall off the sofa.

Brilliant, every minute of it.

From the episode where Jay Sherman from the Critic is visiting: just as he’s leaving, Marge is telling him how small town people aren’t as stupid and backward as city people thing. Just then, Homer goes, “Hey look, this can’s got spring snakes in it but the suckers will think it’s beer nuts! Mmmm… beer nuts.” opens can “Doh!”

Homer’s postcard: “Maybe it’s the beer talking, Marge, but you’ve got a butt that won’t quit. They’ve got these big chewy pretzels and slurred language beers and FIVE DOLLARS!?!?? Get outta here!”

Wish i could think of more.

Top 6 Simpsons moments IMHO (tried to limit this to 5, couldn’t):

6.Homer & Marge entrust Bart to watch Maggie. They come back to the house to find Bart watching t.v. “Where’s Maggie?” they ask. Scene cuts to Maggie, at the wheel of the family car, driving out of control.

5.The Halloween episode when Homer goes back in time. He sneezes and the dinosaurs start dropping dead. Homer:“Uh-oh, this is gonna COST me!”

4.Parody of the Flintstones opening sequence: The whistle blows, and Homer slides into his car. singing: “Simpson! HOOOO-MER Simpson! He’s the greatest guy in historreeeee!!From the TOWN OF Springfield! He’s about to hit a chestnut tree!! YAAAAAA!!!” Followed by Homer’s car slamming into a chestnut tree.

3.Lisa, determined to act “cool”, but tempted to enter the library. Literary characters come to life, including Alice from “Alice In wonderland”; Alice: “Won’t you come to our tea party Lisa? It would be ever so…NO! LISA IT’S A TRAP!!! RUN FOR IT!!!” At which point, the Mad Hatter takes Alice at gunpoint…

2.When Marge goes into business with a pretzel franchise and Homer asks the mob to eliminate the competition. The montage scene showing Marge’s sudden success, and the dire fates of her competitors (especially funny are the girl scouts being tossed out at the town line.)

And, IMHO, the #1 funniest Simpson moment ever:

1.The church congregation singing Bart’s new “psalm” which turns out to be “Ina-Gadda-Da-Vida.”
Rev. Lovejoy: “Wait a minute! This sounds suspiciously like rock and/or roll!”

Eve, I lubs ya and the Shari Bobbins episode too, I mean what’s not to like?

Sahri: Now who wants a story read or a diaper changed?

Abe: Put me down for one of each!

…but El Voyage Mysterioso del Homer still rates as one of the all time greats.

[Chief Wiggum]

The merciless peppers of Quetzlsacatinango!

[/Chief Wiggum]

The snicking sound as Homer breaks off the cold wax that he has just spit out gets me every time.

[Homer]
For the shorts, Time and Punishment is the all time great.

Now give me some inner peace, or I’ll mop the floor with you!

The real masterpiece of the entire episode is the animation while Homer is out in the desert. You can just tell that the animators were having a busman’s holiday with that sequence.

Good posts, everyone. I especially remember the Sherry Bobbins episode with fondness.

BUT you’ve all neglected to mention the #1 funniest line in the whole series. Groundskeeper Willie is drafted into teaching French at Springfield Elementary:

“It’s BONJOURRRRRRRR, ye cheese-eatin’ surrender monkeys!”

Bart abusing and eventually breaking grandpa’s dentures as he hangs onto a blade of the spinning ceiling fan with them. The topper was having Lisa put an album with Sabre Dance on the record player.

As a giant tree crashes through Kentuck Fried Panda, Homer screams, “Oh no! Not Kentucky Fried Panda! It was finger Ling Ling good…”

Okay, well, it was hard, but I have here what I believe to be the all-time greatest Simpson’s moment ever:

Scene: Homer has just been kicked out of Moe’s for good. Seconds later, a man who looks exactly like homer, only wearing a tux, tophat and monocle, walks in.

Man: Homer’s voice, only more “dignified”. Helloooo, barkeep. Might I trouble you for a glass of ale?

Moe: Hey, Homer, I told you to get out. You ain’t foolin nobody.

Man: Who is this “Homer” you speak of? My name is Guy Incognito!

(Cut to outside of bar, punching sounds and Guy’s screaming coming from within. Door opens, and Guy is thrown outside, considerably roughed up.)
(As he hits the ground, the real Homer walks by and notices him.)

Homer: Oh my God! This man looks exactly like me in every way! Looks to the left Oh my God! That dog has a puffy tail!

(Homer runs across the street to chase the dog, shouting “Here Puff! Here Puff!” and laughing hysterically.)

There. That’s it. Now I’m off.

-Jester, self-declared Simpson’s master.

The Pulp Fiction one was good.

As was the one when Mr. Burns does the Grinch thing. (He does it much better than Jim Carrey, IMHO!)

I also enjoyed when Homer helps Apu get his job back…
“You have three questions.”
“Is this REALLY the greatest Kwiki-Mart?”
“Yes.”
“Is it REALLY…”
“Really?”
“Yes. Your three questions are up, thank you, come again!”
Or something like that…not word for word.

And the “remember when I took the home wine making course and I forgot how to drive” thing was desperately funny.

Alright, I’ll attack with more later.

My favorite moment ever:

Apu is talking about his 72 hour stint at the Kwik-E-Mart. He mentions that towards the end, he thought he was some kind of hummingbird.

Cut to security camera footage, where Apu flits by on tiptoes, emitting an “eeeeEEEeeeEEE” sound.

For some reason, this kills me every time I see it. Especially when he comes back for a second pass by the camera.

The trillion dollar bill (I’m sure we can trust the president of Cuba!) For obvious reasons

My two favourite scenes were both featured in the 137th episode spectacular - the scene with the robotic Richard Simmons and the one where Bart steals Homer’s jar of change.

Because I’m a big “Frasier” fan, I like any episode featuring Sideshow Bob. But I believe “Brother From Another Series,” which had David Hyde Pierce doing the voice of Sideshow Bob’s brother, was my favorite. I loved the two brothers bickering and slapping each other in exactly the same manner that Frasier and Niles do, and the fact that they drew the brother smaller and blonder, just like Niles.

Second favorite is when Sideshow Bob marries one of Marge’s sisters (Patty or Selma?), and tries to murder her. As usual, only Bart has him figured. I love it when SB rushes to the bathroom, shuddering with disgust, to hose down after having sex with her!

In the episode where Principal Skinner and Edna Krabappel (sp?) fall in love and Bert rats them out…

At the end, the townsfolk are chastising Skinner and Edna K. for their affair, and the preacher’s wife says, “We know this isnt about LOVE, it’s about s-e-x in front of the c-h-i-l-d-r-e-n!” Then Krusty the Klown exclaims, “Sex Cauldron?? I thought they closed that place down!”

HAHAHA… <DT rolls on the floor in hysterics>

I like the one where Lisa becomes a vegetarian:
(Homer trying in vain to understand a diet sans meat)
H “You mean you won’t eat meat from any animal??!?
L " No Dad!”
H “what about pork chops?”
L " No Dad!"
H “what about ham?”
L " No Dad!!"
H “what about bacon?”
L " Those are all from the same animal!!!"
H “Suuuuuurreee, sweetie! A wonderful, magical animal!”

(I paraphrased but the last line just kills me:o
