Allan Sherman Reference

No … but I remember Jeffrey Hardy!

But didn’t they get married before they moved to West LA? So Shinna Minna Ma was right…

I just talked to Harvey and he said they were married. Call them yourself to confirm at

Let’s not forget cousin Isabel (that’s Irving’s oldest girl).

Not to mention Merowitz, Berowitz, Handelman, Schandelman, Sperber and Gerber and Steiner and Stone; Boskowitz, Lubowitz, Aaronson, Baronson, Kleinman and Feinman and Freidman and Cohen.

I find it amazing that after ALL THESE YEARS I know all the words to that song, and yet I can’t remember my old phone number. Imma gettin’ old!

I still remember all the lyrics, too–and inspired by this thread, I got to thinking about it, one line in particular that I never quite understood: “And the head coach / Wants no sissies, / So he reads to us from something called Ulysses.” At 10, I figured it was a reference to The Odyssey, and presumably, reading about a tough hero like Ulysses would inspire the athletes–bit of a stretch, but the best I could manage. I’d never heard of the James Joyce book at the time. So was I right to begin with, or was Sherman saying that great literature is really “sissy,” or titillating his audience with reference to what was still, at the time, considered a “dirty” book–or what?

Dirty book. Goes with the Lenny Bruce reference.

Man, I still loves me some Allan Sherman. And yeah, that’s brain space I could be using for other things- but I love to sing ‘Togetherness’ while in the shower.

Won’t you come home, Disraeli?

… yes, My Son, the Box is terrific.

YES! I NEVER hear “Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh”, NEVER!

What I always see is a bunch of ostriches (with hairy legs, no less!) and crocodiles dancing around an obese hippo in a tutu!

Here’s a better link: Dance of the Hours.

Thanks JS… :stuck_out_tongue:

And the Tishman twins, Gerald and Jerome (or Jerold and Jerome?).

Just what I’ve been looking for, a genuine copy of a fake Dior!
