Works for me, which parking lot are you in?
Zy: Waterview Park apartments, Waterview & Campbell
We are getting lots of wind up here in Grapevine, but no rain. It all seems to be east, over in Dallas county. It’s the the first time I’ve seen a ‘severe thunderstorm warning’ on the weather channel for around here in a long time.
Still hoping for rain. I may drive over to Dallas just to play in it.
Jim
You people are insane. I live in so cal and when it gets below about 65 I complain that it’s too cold, above 85 and I complain it’s too hot.
Oh well, I guess I’m just a pansy.
…and it almost broke the record for hottest day ever, it was 116 on my patio at my house in Burleson, and it was 118 at one of my coworkers houses in Granbury. He took a picture of the thermometer and I’ll post it if I can get a copy. They need to quit taking the temperature at DFW airport…no one lives at the damn airport and it was hotter than that all over the metroplex.
No rain here yet in the Arlington/Grand Prairie Area…but if it rained in Decatur I may see some on my way home to Burleson.

I was in our neighbor city of Pearl yesterday afternoon, and caught a gen-u-wine thunderstorm. We parked in a parking lot and enjoyed it.
Naturally, at my house 10 miles away, we barely got a drop.
Yep, Jim. I’m at work right now in Richardson. It’s been overcast all day and I could actually see the freakin rain in the distance. It seemed to rain everywhere except right here. And it didn’t last long. Damn rain gods.
I hear on the news it is now officially 74 days and counting without rain. We got about 5 minutes of sprinkling. I was able to feel a few drops on my way through the parking lot as I was going to work. DFW airport (where they measure the rain) got nothing. Thesos I forgive ya for making light of our drought, cuz yer a yank and don’t know any better.
Did anyone else hear about them opening up a water supply that had been closed for contamination? A co-worker told me this story, but I haven’t seen an actual news story about it. I saw today farmers are selling off their livestock because they have no water and no hay. I can’t wait for some real rain. I just hope its not during rush hour. I dread hearing the statistics on car wrecks when the rain finally does hit and turns the road into a slip n slide. Thank God, I don’t commute. On the upside, it does seem to be cooling off a little. I think we’re in the 80s today.
All of you in Texas are going to hate me for telling you this, but in SE Michigan, we got six inches of rain in the last 24 hours. We had flash flood warnings this morning in about a dozen communities in the Detroit Metro area. Where I live is on higher ground, but the street was under a foot of water just half a mile down the road from me. The high today was only 73 degrees.
It rained in Plano today. It wasn’t raining when I was at lunch but later in the afternoon people came in and said it was raining. When I left the office this evening there were small puddles of water all over the parking lot. Was it really rain or some elaborate hoax? I really should’ve watched the news tonight.
I am proud to say I frolicked in the rain this afternoon and semi-thoroughly soaked myself. I shivered for the rest of the day. But I feel completely refreshed now - although my home city didn’t get any rain, just where I go to school.
That was really unnecessary. I didn’t get a single drop of rain, but it was a nice cool day, lots of wind, high was only 92. Cool enough that I mowed the yard this evening in jeans instead of shorts.
Ah, yes, fall is almost here. My water bill should fall below $100 in the next month or so.
Jim
Here in the Vancouver area, we’re settling in for the next six months of drizzle. Looking forward to that makes me wish for a drought.
And Zyada, don’t do too much dancing in the rain. Your belt might rust.
Yeah, DFW might be dry, but down here in Waco… hoo boy. I guess God’s still a little upset about that Koresh thing. No rain since like May. Although we did get something today. Dark clouds and like 1/8" rain. I don’t know the official stats, but it was cooler tonight.
Fillet - have you been to Texas? I’m a native, and I have to say, in the summer, you probably can’t tell the difference between a burnt out hell hole, hell, and our droughts. Just like Chris Rock said in that ‘Nurse Betty’ trailer, “Nope, you’re in Texas.”
Freyr - Where in Austin? I used to live over on 46th, along with a few other places…
Shadowfox - When it clears up, can you drive over to Eminem’s place and snap me a picture? I’d be forever grateful.
rjk - You guys don’t know what rain is. I lived near the Puget sound for a few months. Some guy comes in to the place I was working and saying something about the rain. I look outside and say, “What rain?” “are you blind?” “No, I’m from TX, and we call that mist. Rain is when it hurts to go outside without Kevlar.”
BUT, for all of you complaining… the hottest summer I had was when I was TDY out in Vegas in '96 (Khobar Towers bombing, may they rest in peace.) Temp was no less than 110 everyday. More like 120. Out on the line was like 130. I didn’t have to work on the line… thank God. But I did walk about 2 miles one afternoon and passed out on the bed when I got back to my room. Boy, it just drained me.
Florida is the best. I love that place. Summers mean it rains at 4pm, and winters mean you have to wear pants. I wanna go back. Plus the wather in the Gulf is cleaner… Damned Oil.
rjk - not to worry - when I dance in the rain, I dance au natural.
I once spent the first week of August at my sister’s place in Sugar Land. Only time I’ve ever had a sunburn from my shoulders to my fingertips!
I know the jet stream had shifted into a winter pattern for a while, probably caused by El Niña. DC had the coolest july in some 50 years and absolutely no 100° days at all this summer!
Nor rain here at the office near the airport off I-30 and 360, and not a drop at home off I-35 and 1187 Near Burleson…
Figures!

You trying to proposition me?

SkySlash,
Although we aren’t in a drought like you, we aren’t far behind in Colorado. On top of that, we are having unseasonably hot temps.
Today it’s in the mid 80s where I live and frankly I am tired of the heat. (usually we are in the lower 70s this time of year)
It’s been a long, hot and dry summer here – you should see my lawn!
Brood, I agree! Mist, drizzle, whatever. They’re not proper rain. Proper rain comes with lightning and thunder and is gone in an hour. What I object to is that foggy stuff hanging around for months.
Zy, good for you! It’s the best way to dance, I hear!
