I love that all over the world people are googling the shit out of stuffed monkeys.
German(-based) Doper to the rescue!
Only, not really. If the snuggly monkey was bought two years ago, it is very likely that they simply don’t offer it anymore. I can give you two meager fragments of help: the item is question is called a Schmusetuch, and the German for monkey is Affe. I looked around the bb Klostermann site and the web in general without success.
Honestly, this is a very common situation. A small child latches onto a particular lovey out of a field of possibilities and will accept no other. Over the years, the lovey gets more and more fragile as the child grows older. There are patches, there are spots that get sewed back together, and in the end, the lovey either disintegrates or is retired or graduates to a shelf where it can look down protectively over the child. Even if you had the identical item, it still wouldn’t have been loved and snuggled in the right places and it wouldn’t smell right.
The people at Google are probably scratching their heads now, wondering why their search terms just got so much cuter!
Different manufacturer name, but could this be it?
6impossiblethings is close, but it is much less colorful, and I think it always was. I didn’t think that two years was that long, but I guess these kinds of things change constantly, one batch is sold and new batches, with different materials take their place.
A last attempt for you dauerbach -here is a much less colourful one, though it isn’t the same brand as you mention.
I think its lamb/monkey head looks a little more sheepish than the colourful one; but so it should do with all the trouble it’s causing.
jjimm, I think you did a stellar job in your search.
I, too, am stuffed if I can find that little monkey.
Oh My God. I cannot believe it faded so much. This is it, after all http://www.google.com.au/imgres?q=""BB+KLOSTERMANN+SCHAF+LAMM+SCHMUSETUCH+GRSSE+CA.30+CM""&hl=en&client=safari&sa=X&rls=en&tbm=isch&prmd=imvnso&tbnid=Ap0x7ylWgdya-M:&imgrefurl=http://cgi.ebay.de/BB-SCHAF-LAMM-SCHMUSETUCH-30-CM-KLOSTERMANN-/270753643011&docid=-TYQyM81VGdzrM&itg=1&imgurl=http://www.paw-mc.de/ebay/2011Mai/23.05./BBSchaf.JPG&w=750&h=600&ei=WNHQTtymM-KImQWYxtCkDQ&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=100&vpy=147&dur=2116&hovh=201&hovw=251&tx=105&ty=95&sig=113344895862835752052&page=1&tbnh=137&tbnw=171&start=0&ndsp=3&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0&biw=1148&bih=784, found by 6 (now seven) impossible things.
Now how do I buy it on German ebay. Is it still for sale?
Looks like it is still for sale. PM Shantih and see if she will handle it for you.
The Google translation of that page
says “Shipping to European Union”, so if you’re in the US you may not be able to buy it.
Maybe there’s a European doper you could have it shipped to who could then ship it to you.
I will pm them and see what they say. Also, now that I have all this information I can try to find it on US ebay. Thanks for all your efforts.
Here is the listing as shown on ebay US.
As already said, the seller indicated he’s only selling to EU countries, but if you contact him and plead your case, he may be OK with selling to you.
Good job dopers!
Is there nothing collectively we cannot achieve.
I think we should collectively build a replacement to the space shuttle…
Unfortunately, I read the translation of the page. This item is used, and as much as I want a second for my niece, a used security blanket is just not acceptable. However, now that I know they exist, and exactly how to find the item I can keep looking and will find a replacement.
