Alpaca, And Camel, And Musk Ox, And Yak, And Algae! Oh My! – A Fibrous MMP

YAWN Geez nuttin’ like a stimulating rousing reading of budget, outcomes and safety reports. Think I’ll go eat. There’s this place called Bridget’s nearby that sounds kinda innerestin’. Plus, since I is a guest of the Holiday Inn Express located near beautiful downtown Meridian, Mississippi, I get a complimentary gumbo or soup appetizer. Think I’ll go for the gumbo. According to the menu here in my room it’s chicken and sausage gumbo. OOH! They have turtle cheesecake! And, room delivery is available, but Ima gonna go there cause, well, ambience and all. I know everybody will be anxiously awaiting my report.

Bobbio, I forgot to say earlier, I’m sorry about Maddie. I’m sure you’ll find her a good home. Sometimes that’s just the way it has to be. She’ll keep some little ol’ lady company and be uber spoiled. I’m sure of that.

Ok, off to Bridget’s. I shall report on the experiece. Mayhaps it’ll be the thing that puts Bridget on the map. A rave review from a MMP cool kid. What higher praise could a restraunteur ever want!

ETA: WOOHOO! First post on page three!

Are you *really * going to have cheesecake with turtle in it Swampmeister?

Hi swampy! Glad you made it there safely and can enjoy the high-speedness of their wifi connection. We all breathlessly await your restaurant review, of course.

Having a well-rounded grad school experience is important, Hank, but…as others have said, make sure you’re safe. And don’t worry about us, we’re always happy to listen, give advice, bop you one upside the head, whatever you need. That’s one of the things I like the most about the Dope and, in particular, about the MMP. There’s always someone here who’s had a similar experience and can help you think through it.

Sorry about your migraine, Taters. I’m really grateful I don’t get those. I had really bad headaches when I had mono about 10 years ago and would rather not imagine what it would be like to have them regularly.

Sorry for the kid clean-up, Rebo. Definitely a good idea to ensure he repays you.

Sounds like you have what I had over Christmas, FCM. It took about a month to get rid of the cough. (Coughs always linger with me, but this one lasted extra long. Yuck.)

Sounds kinda stressful, BibKitty. Hang in there.

Too bad about the Maddie situation, Bobbio. I think it’s important to recognize when you have the wrong combination of people and pets. Hope the adoption process goes quickly and well if that’s what you decide is right.

db = silly.

SiL’s cousin the bone cancer doc sounds like one of my best work friends. She’s petite and delicate looking. She’s also extremely quick-witted and talented at cutting people down to size (in appropriate circumstances). It’s really quite amusing to watch people’s impression of her change.

Lunch was at Don Pablo’s, so I’ve chosen to have a light dinner: bowl of Cheerios with dried cherries.

Hugs to everyone who needs 'em.

please explain ETA in this context. I always thought it meant Estimated Time of Arrival

Edited to add

o.

Wait a minute…since no one reads budget reports unless they have to…did WetPooh* get a job?

*you all can figure that out-you’re smart!

Back from work. I have so much to do tomorrow, I blench at the thought. I probably blanche, too.

Off to bed, after reading aloud to #2 son. (everybody say Awwwwww…)
Sorry I didn’t read it all, but just consider me a strong, silent listener…

The Ursine One has a consulting gig. So, kinda.

I’m tired. Just about time for bed.

Back from the game, we lost. :frowning: Tomorrow is an away game, so I’ll be glued to the radio.

SCL, how’d the Snakes do tonight?

We lost too, DB. The Snakes played like I feel - bleh.

Cats are mad at me cause I had to give them some more of that nasty pink stuff. I can understand making amoxicillin bubblegum flavored for kids - but for cats? They do not apprecitate it.

Evenin’ all. Still feelin’ kinda crappy, but I’m upright anyway.

Bobbio, I’m sorry to hear about the Maddie situation. I hope she finds a good family or owner.

Swampy, glad to see you made it safely to Mississippi.

FCM, I’m sorry to read that you’re still coughing like that. I rarely get a cough, but when I do, it’s miserable. I hope the cough goes away soon.

Nothing of note to report here. Back to work tomorrow. I’m not looking forward to it, especially since I missed today.

Take care all.

Thanks all for the sympathy. Hugs all round!

I must stumble off to bed and finish my homework in the morning, as I am quite exhausted. Good night, good night, sweet ladies, good night.

This is gonna have to be short. Fabulous OP Jahdra!

My arm is all kinds of infected. More antibiotics, and some super anitbacterial ointment. Still running a fever. Life is sucky right now.

Off to bed, maybe my arm will work better in the a.m.

kai, rest and take your drugs.

kai, get better.

Sorry your teams lost, db and SCL.

You’d think they’d offer chicken- or fish-flavored amoxicillin for kitties, no?

So where’s that restaurant review, swampy?

Gotta get ready to go out the door. Car is going to the car doctor today. I think the thermostat might be messed up (at least I’m hoping that’s it). When I went to Target the other day, the temp gauge started moving up steadily towards H. When I got to Target, I felt the hood of the car and it wasn’t warm at all. Same thing happened on the way home. We’ll see what they think…

Have a lovely Wednesday, everyone!

Morni.n’ y’all! Sorry I didn’t get back last night, but I got all involved in more fascinating reading of policy and procedure and well, bored myself sleepy.

Anywho, if for any reason any of y’all ever find yourselves in Meridian, Mississippi, Bridget’s is a must place to dine. Tres yum! I had the gumbo and the shrimp creole and both were excellent. I didn’t have any cheesecake with turtles in it cause I was so full. The place is an old house. It’s decorated kinda nice… sorta New Orleansy like. The owners are from NOLA originally and one of ‘em told me most of the recipes are her mother’s. I went into the little bar area after dinner and had a couple beerverages (the only adult quaffs they serve yet) and had a good time talkin’ to the owners and a couple other folks in there. Most of their business comes from the hotels right by ‘em. Matter of fact, there’s a little walkway (uphill) from the Holiday Inn Express and whatever the other one next door is to Bridget’s. I’m goin’ back tonight cause I want to try the white bean soup and the jambalaya. YUM! Oh, and it’s been opened for a month.

Ok, off to caffienate. Yay for hotel rooms with coffee makers.

Kai feel better.

I’ll holler back this evenin’.

yawn I’m never up this early, dangit, but I have to go over to the hospital and bring MT coffee again this morning. She’s doing fine, PT yesterday was a bitch but she got through it, and I’ve done something to my right knee I need to get checked out. I actually went to the emergency room there yesterday because it was bothering me more and more (it’s been a few days) but all they could tell me was “See an orthopedist, here’s a bandage, here’s a prescription for some drugs in the meantime!” I’m not even in much pain, but I’ve got a script for Vicodin. I hate that stuff, but I’ll probably fill it to have around just in case. And it took them only four hours to do it. Arrrrrrrrgh. But it’s a nice bandage, with velcro instead of those annoying metal clippy things.

It’s a nice hospital, but hospitals still suck. Not much else going on around here this week. The dogs are feeling neglected, but they’re going to be fine, silly critters.

Afternoon, each.

Kai - get better! And that goes for everyone else with bites, scratches, bionic knees and other assorted bits of The Sick!

Not much to report from over here - I just went to the travel agency on campus to stock up on drinking tokens for the weekend. I think we just about have enough for some apple gin now and maybe a beer or two.

I spent last night sorting out fancy dress outfits for Saturday’s party and working out when I’m going to get everything else done and packed before we have to leave home on Thursday - we’re staying overnight with friends because we have to be on the coach ridiculously early on Friday morning. Oh, did I mention I was off to Belgium for the weekend?

Tomorrow I have to get both cats to the moggery because they’re staying there for the weekend, hopefully since 'im indoors isn’t working on Monday, he’ll finish decorating the kitchen so it’s just as well the mogs won’t be at home, I don’t think Ophie would like to be creme caramel instead of white.

Tonight I’m going to get my nails done…my friend is taking bets on how many of them I manage to break between now and then!

Maddie the soon to be ex-VunderDog goes away today. Rumor has it she’s being offered to a retired couple in Richmond who’ve had Frenchies longer than I’ve had Boxers, and they’re looking for one to replace their’s that died recently of extreme old age. She’ll have to deal with being an only dog, getting her butt scratched, and riding all across the country in their RV.  Can I be reincarnated as my dog?

I took her for her last walk (with me) this morning, and gave her some extra butt skritches before I headed off to work. She’ll be gone when I get home.

In related news, Loki loses his balls this weekend. I’ve been threatening to step on his first, as payback for all the times he’s nailed mine. Hopefully, with Maddie gone, I can get his obedience training to take hold. Together, they’ve been so wild that he doesn’t care.

Swampy, During the same timeframe I was going to Albeeny for business, I was also going to Meridian. I used to know lots of good places to go around there, but that was 20 years ago. You’re on your own…

Good morning!

HAPPY HUMP DAY!!!

I’ve missed saying that since I wasn’t working. Hee. This working stuff is no fun! When I go home my brain is fried. I’m not used to all this thinking all day. I think I’m gonna have to start playing the lottery, so I can go back to a life of leisure…

My company has just been bought by GE! Sounds like it might be a good fit. They have no other companies like us, so there shouldn’t be too much turmoil. We have a “welcome” meeting today, so we’ll see what they say.

Off to get more caffeination…
