Yo, McUne! A Blog Anniversary MMP

The other day, I got to wondering when McUne started the recipe blog. So I looked, and found that the Mumpers’ Recipe Blog(along with HRH) is having a birthday this week. (HRH’s birthday is Monday; the blog’s is Wednesday.)

You’re probably wondering what the first recipe was. Well, I’ll tell you: the honor goes to Rigby’s Fucking Heavenly Cookies, which is still one of the funniest recipes I’ve ever read. It’s one of several recipes whose complete name might not be shared with every single one of my friends/family/co-workers.

There’s no official record, but I’m guessing that Death Chicken, another of rigs’s contributions, is the recipe made by the largest number of Mumpers.

There are also some unusual recipes. Most recipe blogs wouldn’t include a recipe for fun. Or for mud pies. We are not most recipe blogs.

My vote for most exotic recipe goes to one of Dotty’s. Think Turducken, but start with a camel.

What I like best about the blog is that it adds to the feeling of community in the MMP. I can make something from the blog and tell people “I got this recipe from my friend X in Y.” It also helps me remember who hasn’t stopped by lately (beebs, Mork, donkeybear, Bumba, SO).

So, this is an assignment MMP. Tell us: Which recipes have made it into your recipe rotation? Which one is your favorite? Which recipe(s) have you been meaning to make, but haven’t quite gotten around to? How many blog recipes have you made? (Not counting your own contributions, of course!) Which recipe(s) have you been meaning to share, but haven’t quite gotten around to?

And of course I wanted to shout out a THANK YOU! to McUne for coming up with the idea and creating the blog.

Happy Monday (or almost Monday, depending on your time zone), everyone! (And happy 2nd birthday, HRH!)

GT

W00t! I’m in ur MMP, posting ur doodz! I do simple stuff, so I don’t do a lot of recipes, apart form bachelor food.
Happy 2nd, HRH

So for the past few months, I’ve been hoping to volunteer for a political campaign for this summer. Today, I had an informal interview with the campaign manager for the guy running for the House of Delegates in my district. I can offer more than many people, perhaps most, because I’m really good at digging up and analyzing numbers. She doesn’t much like numbers, so she wants me to do that for them, starting pretty much after my school year ends. I don’t know if I’ll get paid, but I’ll be doing exactly what I want to do, in a race that needs my knowledge and talents!

I have 3 whole entries in that blog - w00t!

As a rule, of late, I don’t do much cooking - if I can’t nuke it, or eat it cold, I tend not to bother.

And Happy 2nd (already? sheesh) birthday to Noor.

Now I am going to try to go to sleep - even though I feel the coming rain storm will make that difficult

I think I have four, maybe five recipes in the blog.

I keep meaning to make the pineapple kugel, but somehow never get around to it.

The Death Chicken is a family favorite, as are Those Friggin’ Good potatoes.

I’ve made some of the others, but it’s been a loong while.

The weather today was gorgeous. Instead of working in the yard, we opted to take a drive. We wanted to go down along the waterfront, but everyone else had the same idea, so we cruised through a part of town that very lovely oooold houses. After that, we stopped and bought feeder fish for our fish, then we came home.

Before the drive, we returned movies and had lunch at the Pita Pit.

I should actually be heading off to bed now.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. Gotta get a move on soon and purtify cause I’m meetin’ ol’ y’all know who for brekkies at that paragon of fine dinin’ known as Three Squares Diner.

Happy Birthday HRH! I can’t believe she’s two!

I, too, am an afficianado of Death Chicken. I’ve made CutiePie’s baked potato salad a few times. MMMMMMMM… I also make LiLi’s easy cake a lot cause it’s easy and gooooooood! I like BBBobbio’s grilled chicken because it’s basic and tastes good. The Crash Hot N.O.T. that I believe gt linked to from The Pioneer Woman Cooks are another fav. I havent’ made MOOOOOM’s cabbage rolls but I want to. There’s a bunch of others I want to try too but haven’t. I need to go through the blog and print off those recipes. If I have 'em on hand to look at I’m more likely to make 'em. I know I’ve put a bunch of recipes in and hope some of y’all have found some ya like.

Ok, purtification must commence.

Later Y’all!

Blurf.

Who says Sunday is the day of rest? I worked my butt off. Mowed the yard, carried more crap than a 40’ semi trailer, picked up debris from the yard, cleaned the kitchen, etc.

At least I managed 2 naps, so I could make up for the one I missed Saturday.

Oh, and I counted 5 blossoms on my larger (and less productive) apple tree. More to come.

Ooooh, homework! I will get to it in a bit, I promise!

Happy birfday HRH!

Tornado watch for Cottonfield County. I love spring.
Hippo Birdies, HRH.

Hmmmm, everybody seems to be tiptoeing around the fact that HRH is now entering the…

TERRIBLE TWOS!!!

Satidy I ended up taking two naps. I was that wiped. I did manage to get the goggies to the vet to get their nails done. We had steak and spare guts for dinner.

Yesterday was a bit better and many chores were done. Also it was hot out.

Today, not so much and tomorrow  <— Frozen me.

My cow-orker who took three vacation days last week is out sick this morning.

And Tante Don Juanna is visiting.

Tupug

Death Chicken is the only one I can think of that’s made the official rotation. Also swampy’s fried okra. I need to cook more.

Tornado warnings down hyar too. The light is looking ominous outside. And I just heard thunder. Good, that’ll wash off the drifts of pollen.

Zeldadog goes to THE VET this afternoon for a heartworm test.

I’M SOMEBODY NOW!!!

When I get my millions, I won’t forget all the little people who were with me in the MMP days… I’ll let you have my cookbook at cost.

<departs in grand manner>
Oops. Forgot. Happy Birthday, HRH! I loved age 2. It was when the kids turned 3 that hell began…

Dang, I have a lot of recipes in there!

The ones I’ve tried from others are: Death Chicken, Lesbian Gingerbread, Peach French Toast Casserole, Crash Hot Potatoes, Cheese Crisps, and Pepperoni Cheese Bread.

Happy birthday, HRH!

I think we’re going to go buy a new computer today. This one is five years old, and slow, and the CD drive is busted, and I’ve run out of reasons to tell Mr Rebo no.

I’m skeered! I hate changing computers! Backing up all the old stuff. Stuff won’t work anymore 'cuz of Vista, or MS Office 7 - I like XP! I like MS Office 2003! Gah.

I hate change. But I want to get a network working so we can buy a laptop, too, and all the current technology that I have no clue how to do.

It makes me anxious.

Evening all. Yes, HRH is 2 today, and if you all can’t believe it, you can imagine how I feel! When did my little baby become a shoe-obsessed princess?

Recipes - honestly, the only one (other than my own, not including the camel) that I have tried is the Death Chicken. Now that I have a Housework Fairy, I have been meaning to get back in the kitchen some more - maybe next week?

Firstly …

HAPPY 2ND BIRTHDAY HRH!!!

The recipes I’ve tried so far are: Death Chicken, Rebo’s Lemon Cheese pie, the really good potatoes recipe, and a few others that I don’t remember off the top of my head. They were all very delicious! I haven’t tried the lesbian gingerbread recipe yet, but am quite anxious to make it, actually. LOL Hope Haze is having a good time with IrishBF. I also want to try the french toast casserole recipe (YUM!) and the cheese sticks of Swampy, they both sound delicious.

At work, more later … yum… I shouldn’t be hungry but now I am. LOL

Excellent OP, btw, GardenTraveler!

Well, where has THIS blog been all my life? I just bookmarked it and will be making Death Chicken very very soon, even if nobody dies. I mean I hope nobody dies. I hope I don’t die! And I will be making some Lesbian Gingerbread even though I’m not a lesbian and I don’t keep golden syrup I may have to go out and buy some. My husband is a fiend for gingerbread and I probably have 40 recipes.

So far, the only recipe I’ve done is my own soup recipe. Think it’s called German Penicillin or some such.

I hurt and ache all over. Too much yardwork and too much electrical work. The power circuit for the air conditioner has been cunningly changed into a subpanel to feed both the AC and the hot tub. This involved an expected amount of kneeling, crouching and drilling into stucco, and an unexpected amount of swearing due to how the chuckleheads who wired the house left absolutely no slack wire, forcing me to splice on pigtails. I have a general hatred of pigtails in breaker boxes, but it was either splice or abandon the project entirely.

Wide swaths of back yard are now under landscape fabric to kill off the weeds and keep said weeds from poking out of the bark chips that will be going in soon. There’s a tree service about a block over from the house that offers free chips. Unfortunately, they don’t offer free edging or timbers to contain the chips. But it will look nice once it’s done.

DH actually managed to get a job interview for today. Think the position is as an office manager for some sort of custom upholstery/furniture company. I finally have my appointment with the back surgeon today. I just hope I’ll be able to afford it.

Morning. Blurf. Had massive insomnia last night, so I couldn’t even try to get to sleep until like 4:00. At least Isaac, sweet doggie that he is, doesn’t like to get up on grey, gloomy, rainy mornings any more than I do, so I once I finally got to sleep, I got enough to survive today. The one blessing about working at home is that if I can’t get to sleep till late, I can at least sleep in a bit so I’m not totally dead.

As for the recipe blog, I think the only thing we’ve tried thus far is Death Chicken. But I keep urging Papa Tigs to try other things. Since he’s the chef, I don’t push too much for fear that he’ll say, “If you really want it, you fix it.”

Happy Birthday, HRH!!

Anyway, today is a good day to stay in and work. Papa Tigs had asked me to run a poop patrol in the back yard so he could mow, but there’s no way he’s mowing in the rain so I’m saved for another day.

Off to do something constructive. Like earn some $$.

Home, to be available to play fireman.

Ugly weather, with 2 funnel clouds already through Cottonfield County, and another line coming. Good thoughts, please…

It was sunny and loverly when I came home, and now it’s pouring. I think the front is zipping thru, followed by a cold night.

Like many others, I’ve made Death Chicken. It was a hit the first time, but last time, I was pretty much asked not to make it again. Oh well. I also made one of the brownie recipes, but either I did something wrong or it wasn’t as great as everyone raved. I need to read thru and see what else I want to make. I know there were some that as I read them, I thought WINNER, but then I promptly forgot.

Gonna be another day before the van is done, so I’ll be carpooling with **FCD **and daughter will drive my car again.

My back is killing me from yesterday’s chain saw adventure. I took Aleve this morning, but it didn’t help. I’m going to try some ibuprofen. Or a big glass of wine. Either way.

Happy Terrible Two, HRH!!!

Meatloaf for supper. With sugar snap peas. And whatever else I decide to make.

Off to the kitchen…
