Alpaca, And Camel, And Musk Ox, And Yak, And Algae! Oh My! – A Fibrous MMP

Any word on our surgery girl today?

Aw, darn, training has been rescheduled. The plan was to coast through training meeting this morning, go to goodbye luncheon at noon, and pretty much kill the day. I even came in early to do some stuff. Ah, well, it’s payday, so not all is lost!

I baked some North Atlantic Cod for dinner last night with some spare guts and holiday sauce. Mr. Anachi really liked it. My desensitization efforts are working. Not a moment too soon as I am getting a tad sick of fowl and he feels deprived if he doesn’t get something that resembles “meat” with his dinner.

kai, keep on top of that infection. You only get two arms.

palebunny, maybe your knee is a sympathetic reaction? Or maybe it’s just genetics.

swampy, that restaurant sounds really yummy. I like the ambiance of houses converted to restaurants. Specially when they are all antique-ish.

bobbio, look at it this way, your time with Maddie was an extra-long foster.

boofae, just where in Belgium are the festivities and why?

Off to do some of what they pay me for.

Tupug

Pugs, the festivities are in Ostend (that’s Oostende if you’re a local) and the event we’re off to is the Dead Rat Ball which is a charity ball held every year. This will be the third time I’ve been with the particular group that we’re travelling with, previously 'im indoors and I had done the trip by ourselves.

It’s a great party night out in the Casino and it really does go on until the last person drops!

That ball looks amazing…and a ton of fun. <pouts> I get to make a presentation this weekend. I can’t hardly wait, I’m telling ya!
Off to do many things, very busy and not so important, but still need to be done. Dunno if I’ll get back here until Sunday.

Hope those who are ill or recuperating get better soon. Hope those who are turning over new leaves, stay um, turned. Have a great weekend folks!

Sounds like fun! I wanna go! I’m sure I’d fit in your suitcase. :stuck_out_tongue:

Must tidy up kitchen, have breakfast, then finish up homework. Hugs and get-well wishes for all the injured and ill!

PS: I just want to say to everyone again, because I was too tired yesterday to say it properly, thank you always for your encouragment and sympathy and hugs and whacks upside the head. Really. It means a lot to me that you guys care.

Hi!

Appropriate greetings, commiserations, scolding, laughing, crying, etc to all.

Off to a morning wasted in union negotiations.

Good morning everyone, I’m back at the salt mines, but I feel like an empty shell. Good grief, this was a bad one. I’ll live though.

kai, take care and take your meds.

Bobbio, I hope it all works out for Maddie. Even though you know it’s for the best, it must still be somewhat painful to give her up.

It’s snowing off and on again here. It’s not sticking, at least at these elevations, but some folks out of the suburbs got some accumulation.

Spring needs to hurry up and haul her ass in here. I’m sick of winter.

I guess I should get caught up on my e-mail here.

So the Faerie is going to take a ferry?

woooo! a from-school MMP post!

(I’m so bad at keeping up with this thread.)

Bob, Maddie’s new family sounds very nice!

everyone else hi!

(that’ll teach me to get to the MMP ten minutes before the end of study hall  )

Ahoy there everyone. Today I had the unparalleled joy of waking up 15 minutes before class. Gotta love that. The mad dash across campus. Fantastic. I made it on time though. Here, have a pun:

Meanwhile, Purim is approaching! Purim is essentially the Jewish Mardi Gras. rosie can back me up on this one - gaudy masks and costumes, drunken revelry, the whole bit. I’m hoping to find some sort of Purim party, but as yet the Hillel website mentions nothing of the kind.

Okay, off to do work. Have a happy Wednesday, everyone.

My best friend from preschool-1 to 8th grade (she went steady in 9th, with the guy who’s now her husband) is called Blanca Esther. Blanca is a popular-ish name in Northern Navarra: “the White Virgin”, “Our Lady of the Snows” is one of Navarra’s many patron saints (we collect them). In this case it’s also very fitting since she’s one of those Snow-White models.

The Esther is from having been born on the Feast of St. Esther… that being the Esther that Purim celebrates. I found out last year thanks to the Dope, told Mom, who told Blanca’s Mom, who told Blanca, who of course thought it was absolutely neat-o.

We don’t see each other much any more (she lives in the Canary Islands, so it’s rare for us both to be in town at the same time) but still have a great time together when we do. And our moms get together pretty often; it’s one of those cases where the kids’ friendship brought about the parents’.

Ya know, this nickname is just TMI-y enough to work well for the individual concerned! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m still pretty raggedy - coughing less, but still enough that I didn’t sleep thru the night. It was a struggle to stay awake during training. The thing is, the program we’re learning is really interesting and seems to be a powerful tool, but it’s quite complex and could become overwhelming. And I don’t know if it’ll be applicable to my next job - we shall see.

Anyway, regarding my consumptive death rattle, I’m thinking maybe I’ll take the cool mist vaporizer into our bedroom - maybe part of my problem is dry air. That’ll be tonight’s experiment. I gotta figure out something - I really need my beauty sleep.

When I got home today, I had a sudden realization - I don’t have pets - I have an entourage! I can no longer pee alone. Heck, I can’t even brush my teeth alone - Brandy comes in and wants to drink directly from the faucet, so I stand there with a mouth full of foamy Crest waiting for her to move her kitty butt outta the sink! I’m thinking of renaming Scruffy to Shadow - I swear, she’s always at my heels!

**Bobbie ** - sounds like Maddie lucked into a sweet deal! That’s got to make it lots easier on you, eh?

**kai ** - get better - you’re scaring me!

I know I had more things to say to more people, but I’m soooooooo tired right now. Just be assured that I did read all the posts so far and I thought about each of you. I’m just unable to summon any of those thoughts to the forefront at the moment. But ya knows I luvs ya!!! MWAH!!

I have a garage! And none too soon. The snow is Coming. Everyone’s watching radar and it’s just marching closer and closer.

But it’s ok. I have a garage!

(We had one, but had to argue over who got to use it. Now we have two so no more garage-induced fights.)

Helllloooo again. I would love to go to a rat ball, but instead for my anniversary this weekend, I’m getting to go out to dinner and to the art museum. Whee! I haven’t been Out To Dinner in a Fancy Restaurant, Kidless since last anniversary! I am thinking of wearing heels.

In your daily TMI report, I can assure you everything’s A-OK with my girlie parts, sayeth my gyno, and I’m ordered for mammogram. That I’m not looking forward to so much. Not that my ‘girls’ are mine anyway; young cherry boy still claims them on a regular basis. We’re hoping that will end before preschool starts.

Sorry to her Miss Maddie has to go, bobbio! But she sounds like she’ll be so happy. I’d be glad to get rid of the mystery poops.

I wish swampy wasn’t so good at describing what he eats all the damn time. My tummy is GROWLING!!

Maddie is gone. We added the stiulation that we need an occasional homemade postcard when she travels…

Dinner tonight is bad Chinese buffet - yay!

Hey, it’s cheap and I don’t have to do dishes, and that’s good enough for me.

I stand before you (sort of), done with homework, projects and presentations…prep, that is.
Ok, so I have to put notes on the backs of my books (a librarian’s way of cheating for those of us who don’t remember character names all that well…). But that is child’s play compared to the handout, review, eval etc. Whew! I could use a drink (oh, yeah-I don’t really drink…).

Off at 0530 tomorrow, so toodles to all. Behave yourselves, and if you can’t be good, be careful. <with stern look towards U of C campus for Hazelnut>.

I have a headache.

And it looks like there might be a Serious Problem with one of our databases. Ugh.

appropriate noises and gestures all around
I popped in to say two things
It was actually still daylight when I left the office this evening - can spring be far behind?
and
I forgot to take my meds this morning but didn’t realize it until I got home. I was achy and stiff and hurting all day, but I figured that was just tomorrow night’s storm giving me a head’s up (I am a walking barometer). I got home a little while ago, and decided I was going to take my night meds now and crawl into bed early - but the little pill cup was not by the water bottle. It was still on the counter by the pills - with the morning meds still in it. :smack:
At least I have a weekend of fun and poker to look forward to.
Drae - you still have my cell phone number, right?

Dottie popped in! Yay!

It’s been a busy day off. I went to morning Mass, then went grocery shopping. Maggiw Wonderbeagle and I went to the dog park and Petsmart. Maggie found a treat on the floor, so we went outside and buried it. That dog ain’t right. Everybody took a nap, then I cleaned the bathroom. Dinner is poke chops, rice and green beans.

rigs, I’ll have a drink for you.

FCM, I haven’t had Chinese in a while. I might make some tomorrow.

Happy Anniversary Ellen!!!

taxi, the key to a long happy marriage is for everyone to have their own space, and for the husband to never, ever go near the wife’s space.(according to Dad)

Hi Dot!!

rosie, I do that a lot. It’s wonder the dog and I are still alive.
