Alphas - Anybody watching this?

Yeah, that was a pretty good ending for the season.

The guy who plays Nathan Clay, the agent who doesn’t like Alphas very much and locked up the whole team last week, keeps reminding me of the 4400. Now I keep seeing parallels in the two shows.

I’ll definitely tune in for the second season.

I’m hoping that they at least figured out different ways for Red Flag’s legion of mirror people to do what they do. Reflexes girl, for instance could have a power similar to that of the Taskmaster from Marvel comics.

I kinda liked it. Just because those two act like total badasses, and then they discovered “Nope, we’re little fish in a big pond.”

This show got better and better as the season progressed. I really enjoyed the finale.

The only character I didn’t like was Bill, who is a bit of a dick. I wouldn’t miss him if he left the show.

I just got around to watching this on DVR, but my house got noisy right at the end and I only partially heard the dialogue between the immortal guy and Rosen’s daughter. Was it immortal guy’s plan that Rosen out the Alphas? If not, what did they say there?

I think immortal guy said, “things just got complicated” or something to that effect. He didn’t want Rosen to go public.

Don’t tell Rosen what to do with his Alphas. He’ll screw your whole plan.

Okay, I was thinking it was maybe some sort of master plan to reverse-psych Rosen into doing his dirty work for him.

I have to say I’m pleased at how cleverly Rosen spread the word about Alphas to the world (an also I’m pleased that the show didn’t tease the idea of revealing the secret over many many episodes like Heroes did). Rosen told about Alphas, but he provided instant validation by showing that he was testifying in front of Congress, and that Congress was listening carefully to him.

I figured I’d bring this thread back from the dead rather than starting a new one.

So has anyone else been watching season two of Alphas? I mildly enjoyed season one, but thought it was rather lightweight. The writing and acting weren’t hugely compelling, the drama was a bit mundane, etc. But still, it had its moments and was good enough to keep me sticking with it. Of course, David Strathairn is always great.

I think season two has been a definite improvement. The characters have grown on me a bit more, and they’ve added a new Alpha to the team, Kat, who I like a lot. The writing’s gotten stronger and the season long arc of their battle with Stanton Parish and his League of Evil Mutants has been pretty well done. Ok, yeah, they’ve sorta cribbed elements from the X-Men comics, but that was pretty much unavoidable.

And they had a hot make-out scene between Nina and Rachel in episode four.

I definitely agree that season 2 has been a massive improvement. I can’t find any info. on the web, but does anyone know if this show is going to have a season 3?

I hope so; it’s really improved.

I’ve enjoyed it a lot, although this season has been pretty dark. There’s been no announcement yet about whether it will be renewed.

I’ve been wondering too. This page lists the ratings for each episode, and they’re down from season one, which isn’t a good sign. But I don’t know how that compares with other SyFy shows, or how much it costs to produce, etc.

Looking at the ratings they’ve got listed for other Syfy original shows, it looks like Alphas is doing a bit better than Lost Girl and Haven, and a bit worse than Warehouse 13.

Wow, I finally finished season two last night. What a great show! And what an intense ending! And what a shame it was canceled. There were little plot holes here and there I could nitpick if I wanted, but the overall story, dialogue and acting were top notch. If anyone is looking for a show to watch on DVD or something, I recommend it.

Major cliffhanger ending to the series though. I’d trade about fifty dozen Syfy series for another season of this one.

It works well as a cliffhanger ending and as a finale.

True, and I’m okay with it. I needed a little Kleenex.

True dat. Instead we get crap like Defiance.

Continuum is pretty good, though.

True. Not often you see that. The acid test is that a reboot could do a clean pickup with Gary as the only surviving (known) Alpha.

Haven has some originality to it, and very interesting characters(I love Duke!).

I saw this thread pop to the top and for a moment I thought it was back.

Curse you for raising my hopes and then dashing them again :frowning:
