I’ve been meaning to ‘just start one’ (as was discussed in [thread=346733]this thread[/thread]) for months now, but somehow this just seemed like the right time. Maybe I ran out of excuses for putting it off.
Suggested ground rules, up for debate:
‘Spoilers’ in the thread title… this means that spoilers for anything angel or buffy-related, (probably even 'firefly and ‘serenity’) will be fair game.
Discussion is allowed about anything in the angel series at any time, if you can tie it into the episode of the week… no need to wait if you see a foreshadowing of season 5 in the first disk of the first season
We are all to have a lot of fun.
Any questions? If all goes as planned I’ll be starting the thread for ‘City of…’ this weekend. Anyone who likes can crack it out right now and get started!

SkipMagic, I didn’t think there needed to be a spoilers warning on this thread, because there wouldn’t be any actual episode discussion here, just discussion ABOUT episode discussion. Does that make any sense?

Hi, chrisk, didn’t mean that to sound as snotty as it probably did.
Here’s a silly question that has been bothering me (and it is a silly question, albeit heartfeltl): am I the only one who wondered why there were rainbow decorations in the presumably non-gay bar Angel was hanging out in in the opening sequence? (Look at the silk banners on the ceiling overhead.) It’s a tiny glitch, but I found it oddly distracting.
Oh, and how the heck did Doyle get into Angel’s place when he turned up and introduced himself?
Not trying to be snippy myself, but you’re kind of jumping the gun, especially since I just said that this was a meta-discussion thread. Watch the episode, fine, but I wanted to hold off on actually TALKING about it until monday. (sigh.)
Was the subject line ill-chosen? I wanted to convey the idea of, ‘okay guys’ watch the episode this weekend if you like, and we’ll start the club proper in a few days. Hrm. Or we could just turn this thread into the Ep #1 thread if people prefer. I’m trying not to be anal here.
It would probably be good to spoiler-box anything from Buffy and anything from episodes of Angel we haven’t yet reached (as we did for the Firefly DVD club). For example, details regarding any episode after “City Of…” (including plot elements, character arcs, setting, etc.) should be spoiler-boxed and appropriately labeled like so:
Spoiler for “Angel” S2: "Darla"
Angel redecorates his house and Cordelia goes to Australia.
That way, new watchers of the show can participate in the discussion without having to worry that people who’ve seen the whole thing will spoil the plot arcs for them.
Does anyone else agree with this?? I thought that we probably wouldn’t have many new watchers, just an ‘old josser’s club’ who were taking an excuse to go through the angel early seasons and shoot the shit about them.
But if people, in general, want to use spoiler boxes to be more newbie-friendly, then I’m down with that!!
