Hi Ky! Welcome home!

shameless

waterj2, I can neither confirm nor deny that I had anything to do with that. (Did you know there’s also an icemaker in the back part?)

Hi, AHunter3! It’s awesome to be back. hugs

Seriously, people, tell me how you are! I want to know what I missed!

No, no, that’s the Anti-Kythereia machine! Don’t put it and Kythereia together in the same room!

Welcome back! Of course I remember you! You liked my “Alternative account of how Bilbo acquired the Ring”! Where you been?

Well, as for me, I’m still a right-wing nutjob who spends far too much time here tilting at SDMB windmills. Nothing much new there.

As far as me personally, I’m not doing too groovily at the moment. I took a header this afternoon while mowing the back yard of a neighbor who was out of town and tripping on one of three side-by-side ladders that had been left on the lawn by workmen building a large gazebo in her back yard. I went to move them, tripped on the first, and virtually catapulted myself down and across all three of them and into the gazebo. Minor damage was done to the gazebo, but my right shoulder is pretty badly hosed, leaving me virtually without the use of my right arm. My left hand and wrist are bruised and sprained and are starting to bite me as well. (I’m only able to type these words thanks to the wonders of Hydocodone. :D)

As far as the board goes, I don’t know if you were still here when they went into effect about a year and a half ago, but we have new rules governing language in the Pit, and moderator complaints are to be posted in the ATMB forum.

And speaking of mods, tomndebb is now a moderator in the GD forum. He’s more hands-on than previous GD mods, but in my opinion he’s doing a very good job in what is probably the most difficult forum to moderate.

Now, having said all that, I think I can safely speak for most of us when I say that we’d like to know what’s been going on in your life too.

Welcome back, Kytheria! Another U of T alumnus, as I recall. As you may recall, there are a few of us here.

Not much and lots… Lessee, around here, Teemings is back. The quote buttons got funny and hard to navigate for stupid people like me. Some folks left, some came back, some new ones arrived… We haven’t had a Toronto/south-western Ontario Dope-Fest in too long, come to think of it; you might provide a welcome excuse.

I still torment the piano on a regular basis. Still in Grade 9, concentrating on the romantic, impressionist and modern rep. My sight-reading is getting better. We moved the grand piano in last September, and I paid it off last month, so now I have to live up to the level of my instrument, which is a fun challenge.

New puppy (Labradoodle), new car (Mazda 5), new guitar (Baritone Classical made by luthier Ed Klein). Other than that, same old, same old. I’m getting rejected by better publishers these days. My cappuccino-pesto flavoured toothpaste seems to have been a colossal failure, but the sugar maple casks for a peaty single malt might just work out - we’ll find out in another 12 years.

And you - what’s a gnu with you?

Greetings Kytheria from another fellow Ontarian.

I remember your name. But that’s about it. Sorry!

Hey, lady! Welcome back.

I do remember you, mostly the name and the fact that you’re from Canada. I had noticed that you weren’t posting anymore, so welcome back!

< waves >

Welcome back honey!

She said cool, not clammy.

Hi, Kythereia!

Welcome home.

Well, slap my ass and call me Sally! There’s a username I haven’t seen in awhile! Well, I was away for an extended period too, so I should account for that as well, but hi there Kyth!

waves enthusiastically

Well, it was pretty awesome.

I’ve been doing the whole productive-member-of-society thing, but it got boring. What about you?

Oh my God, Starving Artist, take care of yourself! Put some ice on that and feel better soon :frowning: frets

(Thanks for the heads-up about Pit language, too. I can’t think of a better guy to moderate GD than tomndebb, so to paraphrase Hugh Laurie, huzzah to him with brass knobs on.)

Spoooooooooooooooons. U of T represent! What’s going on in your life?

I am totally down for a Tronnadope some weekend. How many Dopers can we rope in?

Ha, I love grand pianos, I feel like you should automatically get a flute of champagne and a suit with tails and top hat everytime you sit down at one. Good luck! I wish I could hear you play.

Give your new car a belly-rub for me, having fun driving your new guitar, and rock out on your new puppy… wait. (Seriously, I’m really, really happy that your life is going well hugs)

Leaffan! snogs You up for a Tronnadope?

Anaamika, I would still possibly reconsider my heterosexuality for you. How are things?

Thanks, Hypnagogic Jerk! It’s good to see you, too–Canadians have to stick together (and deny everything and anything related to Justin Bieber).

Bosda**! Tell me what’s new right now, because I really missed the heck out of you.

Okay, Sally, but first let me buy you dinner. That’s just polite. What occasioned the absence from the SDMB?

I feel way overwhelmed, you guys are all brilliant. :o Let me get the boring personal stuff out of the way:

I got a haircut, a new computer, a degree in English literature (also known as a scrap piece of paper with words on it), and a volunteering job at the public library–I help out with the adult literacy program, meaning I tutor people in reading, writing, and math. Took karate for a year and want to pursue it again in the fall; got the H1N1 shot when it came out; started and finished about eight frillion new books (my life went missing in the process). Right now I have an internship with TVGuide.ca, doing fact-checking and editing stuff; I’ve even written some articles for them (this is one of my more recent efforts). And now I’m going back to Ryerson University next week, to get a certificate in publishing so I can actually do something worthwhile with my life.

So, yeah. Life is pretty good.

How cool! What a great life you’re living right now! Congratulations!

Some setbacks. Still hanging in, and no complaints to speak of.

I do always make sure I get down to the U of T when I’m back in TO; even if it’s only for a cup of coffee at Hart House. Heck, the U of T gave me a degree, but Hart House gave me an education.

Adult literacy? I did that through the North York Public Library about twenty years ago. Let me know if you need any hints or tips.

Again, great to have you back!

Very good, and it’s good to see you back! Thanks for the status updates…stick around this time. I left for a while, too, when the board was pay-to-play. But they missed me so much they made it free in only a couple of months.

I’m back in Toronto for a week as I pack up and prepare for moving to Bancroft to pursue art, cheap living costs, and solar house design. We should get the Toronto Dopers together. Suggestions?

Welcome Back, K! Stay, have coffee.

Mr Scott! I want one… make that two… tractor beams on that Message Board Poster…

Kythereia–little good news, although I’m still working. :frowning:
