Am I a nice person or not?

Here’s another thing, too: be the positive person who tries to find opportunity in challenge or tries to learn from people you don’t like. Sometimes working with people you find totally obnoxious can be the biggest learning curve you’ll get in a workplace and will provide you with more valuable skills than anything else.

Plus, if you suck it up and try not to be so critical, your criticism (and it better be constructive) will have more meaning. If you’re the guy making fun of everyone behind their backs, if you ever have real issues or concerns and need to voice them, everyone may assume you’re just being “that guy” again. They have no incentive to listen to you because as far as they’re concerned, you’re just being your usual bitchy self.

And one other thing…if you have criticism, have a solution, too. Bitching is fun in small doses. Constant bitching that never makes anything better isn’t fun or productive.
