Am I deluded for thinking Trump will not even seek re-election?

Why would I have to admit the change? What does my opinion on that matter in any way? I didn’t vote for Trump and there is less than zero chance I’ll vote for him in any re-election. It’s HIS perception of the situation that matters. And he won’t ‘admit to a change’ until he can’t deny it any longer…probably not until he’s been impeached and some police officers are holding out handcuffs to take him off to jail. Maybe not even then.

You seem to be conflating a lot from my statement, but this thread is about whether Trump will seek re-election or if the OP is deluded in thinking he won’t. As of today, I’d say that while not deluded, the OP is probably overly optimistic wrt Trump bowing out for a second term. Perhaps he will, but only if his world starts to cave in around him and he loses the blind support of his base. IMHO and all that.

:confused::confused:

Is there a presidential line somewhere? Do I need to pull a ticket so I can get a number?

You said there has been “no change” in a world where we have had a lot of pleas and indictments spiralling around this man. He is constantly tweeting from a desparate place in his mind, and concerned with this stuff. Is it sensible to say it has no effect on his running again?

Are you really saying that as long as donald keeps a game face for you, that nothing else plays into whether he will run? As long as he can ignore it you can too? I am watching him closely and I see no game face on him at all.

Game face for me?? What the fuck are you talking about? Look, if you can’t read what I write and discuss that then what’s the point of continuing this discussion? Again (last time), it doesn’t matter what I or anyone but Trump thinks is going on. Certainly he doesn’t give a flying fuck for your analysis that he is ‘desparate’. Hell, I don’t even agree that he’s desperate at this point. And I DID say that if things change then it will certainly have an effect on him running again. You seem to be skating past most of my post then focusing on what you THINK I’m saying and then making a lot of assumptions with a dash of horseshit.

Bottom line is as long as HE thinks he can win, and as long as his base is sticking to him he will almost certainly run again. If the situation changes, and his various chickens come home to roost, or if his health declines from too many cheese burgers then not. I hope not, because I don’t want even a chance of having this bozo as president again, but it’s anything but certain that he’ll bow out at this point.

Wow. He has had his campaign manager indicted, and accused of witness tampering, (One of a dozen things happening along the “treason” trail) and you think he is cool as a cucumber because you don’t “see” him in trouble? Now, it has nothing to do with you, it’s just donald’s behavior you are describing? Did you notice that he says “No collusion!!” out of context? Did you notice his infantile tweets. Are you actually observing the administration? This is not normal for a contender. It would be normal for a person about to sign a POA for his affairs because he is not OK.

Is it not a chicken that comes home to roost after 4 or 5 people around you flip? You are looking for a bigger chicken?

Why wouldn’t he be worried about the investigation enough to have doubts about the future of the next 4 years?

Sarcasm folks, sarcasm.

I don’t get the whole “she was a bad candidate to run” stuff. Regardless of what one’s misgivings of her happen to be, the point is that her opponent was DONALD FUCKING TRUMP. Not a moderate Republican, not even a proudly right wing but still mostly sensible Republican, but a barely literate buffoon with skeletons in his closet that would have made Al Capone blush. The most significant of which we had already knowledge of before the election. And he still won. That should not have happened. A primate running opposite him should have won by a Reagan-esque landslide.

In a way, his victory was just barely. He easily lost the popular vote (and no, you don’t get to dismiss this fact if your argument is that she simply wasn’t well liked enough) and in the key swing states that handed him his EC win, he only beat Clinton by a hair. In some instances within the margin of error. Clinton chose to not contest the results in order not to further divide the country. But he didn’t mollywhop Clinton, and factor in collusion with Russia that depending on the extent of their interference may or may not have definitively tilted the election in his favour when he would have otherwise lost, it’s too much of a stretch to state that Trump’s victory was due to him being a better campaigner and a more “likeable” personality (it’s also rather telling that people think being a vocal bigot makes you more likable than whatever Hillary Clinton is).

Assuming he does seek re-election, so many factors will have changed the next time around. Voter turnout won’t be as depressed because people have gotten a rude awakening and don’t take their democracy for granted like they did pre-Trump. The recent spate of Democratic victories in local elections across the country, even in staunchly “red” areas suggests people finally understand the power of the vote. The strong backlash against his recent policies, particularly the ones sanctioning the separation of young children from migrant families have made a lot of people determined to vote him out of office. And a seat on the Supreme Court is now free for him to fill with the right wing zealot of his choice. Unless people manage to forget all of that a mere two years later, no way is he winning again. He barely won the first time around. And that’s not even getting into what Mueller will uncover about him.

OMG that makes me want to go to the mirror and say “candyman” three times!

I’ve seen him in his golf clothes, he’s a big fat slob

and we know he loves McD’s cheeseburgers, he may just keel over
