Am I not welcome here?

Meh, I don’t care anymore. I’m gonna post here anyway.

Just think of us as the Portland of the internet.

That made my day.

In fairness, while he joined in 2005, he doesn’t appear to have actually posted until 2012. He was probably a guest during pay-to-post, and then rediscovered us. Lucky us.

There protoboard, you’ve been noticed. You’ve had your SDMB 15 minutes. Congratulations. Now feel free to fuck off to the depths of anonymity like the rest of us. Thanks ever so much.

In honor of SDMB pedantry, I have to point out that lackwit is one word. (Unless you think that’s bullying or cruel.)

Ah. I learned something in this thread. Cool.

Sadly, for me it’s “Nobody Likes Me. Everybody Hates Me. Think I’m Gonna Eat Some Worms.” And just the chorus, so it’s getting repetative.

I’d feel bad about not addressing the OP, but his little green light is out.

As if any of you are real people anyway . . .

Let’s see if you’re welcomed for the part I bolded here.

Can’t forget The Coop while we’re talking Nobody Likes Me songs.
Here’s the Alice Cooper Band in the year of Woodstock and moon landings:

Well, I wont be; but, that’s cuz Portland sucks.

I guess you’ve never been to Portland …

I don’t hate protoboard, but I do think he’s a whiny, naive, narcissistic asshole. That’s OK with me. He’ll eventually start contributing something worthwhile, hopefully.

The triumph of optimism over experience.

We need a word for this. How about “modyrdom”?

Looking at Measure for Measure’s list of recent threads started by protoboard:

This ^. “Implicit and unreasonable assumptions” is on point.

I am a nobody on this board, so this post isn’t representative of anything. I, for one, liked the Talk Talk question (mostly because I haven’t heard of this band before) and the Asian-American naming question. The latter question necessarily involves stereotyping Asian-Americans, which I didn’t care for much, but it was a good observation, and there were some insightful responses.

Oddly, before this thread, I did remember protoboard as “the Portland whiner” but I didn’t recognise him in the other questions at all. Goes to show that we (or rather, I) recognise a person’s bad bits more readily than the good ones.

Fuck me running. 15 years and we haven’t come up with that yet?

You win, I’m retiring.

/internet

It wasn’t weaponized. It just had character. It poured slow. Really slow. Now, the biscuits, on the other hand…

I’m not reading this whole thread so please forgive me if someone has already addressed this point.

Nothing happens for “no reason at all.” There’s always a reason. You may not know the reason, or you may not understand the reason, or you may not approve of the reason, but there’s always a reason.

I think it would serve you well to put some effort into learning about the reasons certain things happen to you.

In 276 posts, the odds were good.

The bumping of this thread is apropos, as the OP has just opened yet another thread doing exactly the same thing people have advised him to quit doing so much. No doubt he’ll be running back here soon, baffled as to why he’s so very very unpopular and bemoaning how unfair life is.

We are like the Oregon of message boards.
