Horse shit. I’ve exercised extreme self-restraint because to post is pointless, as demonstrated in this thread and others. I’ve watched the broad-brushing pissing and moaning expand from Portland to the PNW (which includes me) to the West Coast, and now the entire country. I expect to see a post about, “Are people who live on the moon nice?” in a few months because he’s going to run out of earth.

I’ve refrained from saying that in a lot of cases, you get what you give (I make friends easily here in the “nasty” PNW).

I’ve refrained from saying that if he (or she?) could’ve made money to move with a part-time job or a small online business in all the time he spent bitching.

I’ve refrained from saying GO TO COLLEGE (he’s only 25!) to improve his situation.

What’s the point? Another everyone’s-so-mean-to-poor-widdle-me thread will just pop up in a few weeks. This is the fifth or sixth one I’ve seen. I don’t have much patience for people who blame everyone and everything else for their own crap.

I tried going to college, it wasn’t for me. I’m self-employed now, but I haven’t really made much money yet.

I guess I should let people know that Straight Dope is my “bitching haven” along with City-Data, I’m not a crybaby at all in real life. But since non-positivity is frowned upon here I will no longer express upset when I post here.

Well, his user name refers to Groton Middle School. Boys that age are, by definition, immature, and many have quite the nasty streak. He may, perhaps, grow out of it in time. I suspect his mother doesn’t know what he’s up to on the internet.

Protoboard is a slightly older version of Grotonian. Since he clearly hasn’t grown out it yet, counseling could be quite productive in sorting out how his insecurities contribute to his aggression and his tediousness.

I wouldn’t worry about it in any case. We have our own children to raise.
