Am I the Only One Who Actually Likes...?

That was Oliver, not Donovan.

I like side 6 of Sandinista! by The Clash, back in the 80s when it had a side 6. (That would be the last 6 songs on disc 2, I guess.)

Come to think of it, I’m probably in the minority in that I still prefer vinyl to CD, although I will concede that an iPod in the car is a lot handier than a turntable. I’m in an even smaller minority in that I prefer vinyl but own a cheap-ass 30-year-old turntable, cheap-ass speakers, and have never uttered the word “subwoofer” out loud. It’s just that the music I listen to sounds better with scratches, and 20 minutes is usually a more approprate chunk for me than 70. “Shuffle” is nice, though.

I am a 39-year-old man of the world with sophisicated tastes, and am a schooled musician and have been in a number of interesting bands, but there are certain stupid songs that I will not turn off if they come up on the oldies station because I dig them so much. “Love Will Keep Us Together,” for example. “Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel.” “Magic” by Pilot. KC and the Sunshine Band. I’m not sure whether I like them because they’re good and I’ve finally gotten to a point where I don’t care what the world thinks, or if I like them despite their cheesiness because they create fond memories of when I was ten, but I am definitely liking them in an irony-free manner. (The bass line to “Get Down Tonight,” for example, has a lot going for it.) If there was a smilie for “OK, I know that’s not cool, and it’s not even uncool enough to be cool, so I will go shave off my soulpatch and put on a pair of madras slacks and head out to the golf course,” I would add it here.

::Chefguy begins running towards Winnie in slow motion across a field of daisies, a sappy look on his face. Pollen allergies kick in and he begins to wheeze most unattractively. Knees begin to get wobbly because he hasn’t exercised in, like, forever. Chefguy staggers to a halt after about 50 feet and stands hunched over, hands on knees, huffing like a hairspray addict and hoping he won’t cough up the cheeseburger he had for lunch. Suddenly, a sharp pain stabs through him and he clutches his chest where years of PB & M sandwiches have deposited their gifts. Looking desparately for Winnie, he realizes that she bolted for a payphone to call 911 as soon as this looney started running at her with a crazed look on his face.::

Ah…love…

I love lentil bean soup, Grape Nuts, and any healthy cereal that tastes like rocks, and/or twigs. I really like that stuff. People think I’m crazy.

I also like pimento loaf, even though I’d never eat it now.

I loved Mama’s Family.

I really liked Riddick and Alien Ressurection.

I love anchovies, and liver and onions. Black licorice too!

Spinach, broccoli, brussels sprouts, okra, lima beans, liver, anchovies, chicken or turkey sausages.

Star Trek Voyager.

Operettas.

Doctor Brown’s Cel-Ray.

My PT Cruiser.

I love Cel-Ray! I gave my girlfriend a sip one day and she said it was the most disgusting thing she had ever tasted. She thought I was joking when I said it was celery flavored soda pop.

I thought I was the only one who did that! I sometimes drink milk with the cereal, but I don’t put milk in the cereal. It gets soggy.

Other things:

A Horse With No Name

John Denver

Out of Time

White Zinfandel

Brussels sprouts

The movie Armageddon, though I’m one of those people who like to pick apart the science in movies, and I watched it for that purpose. I watched that one when I was sick, and it was still like shooting fish in a barrel.

I have two Emitt Rhodes albums

Brussel Sprouts.

UHF, the Weird Al Movie(okay, I know quite a few who like this)

Moulin Rouge, as well.

Cheapo microwavable pizzas… I like them more than the expensive ones.

Just to mentions some agree withs.

I liked Mama’s Family, in fact, if I happen to be up at 7 am and can’t go back to sleep, I watch it still.
Star Trek Voyager and the movie Star Trek Nemesis. I never took Trek too seriously. I never watched it for the acting or science, I watch it to see spaceships blow each other apart.

Spinich and brocolli and okra. The funny thing is, I can’t stand most of what is termed “southern food” but I love okra, either fried or boiled. It’s also great in homemade soup.

and an invention of my own, the cheesepickler. Take two pieces of bread, put in a slice of cheese, slice a pickle and lay the slices on the cheese, put ketchup and mustard on it and microwave for about 30 sec.

I like liver and onions too. Can’t stand brussels sprouts though, people who eat raw broccoli scare me.

I like The Cook, the Thief, his Wife, and her Lover. I’m just about the only person I know that does.

I like the song Freebird (though I hated it when I was a teenager.)

In Hawaii, they serve Spam at McDonald’s.

Me too.

And I can watch anything with the Rock in it. He’s gorgeous.

Oh, and did I mention that I love James Taylor?

I thought “Unhappily Ever After” was brilliant television.

I’ve finally come to terms with the fact that I love “The O.C.,” though I’ll hardly admit it in public yet. :o

And I’m seriously the only person on the planet who loved the character of Jess on “Gilmore Girls.”

Not quite, but it has to be Miracle Whip.

Yes!!! There are others! Cereal is disgusting in milk. It gets soggy and turns the consistency of vomit. Don’t get me wrong, I love milk, but the two food products need to stay seperate. Dry cereal all the way, in it’s purest, most necessary form!

I, too, like Spam, cooked or raw.

Star Trek: Voyager is entertaining, even though it is predictable.

I absolutely love maps. Road maps, political maps, or whatever, they provide hours of entertainment. I have memorized most of the US Interstate Highway system.

In the morning, I am going to eat cinnamon toast. This is the best sugery breakfast food ever. Who’s with me?

The Richard Harris song “MacArthur Park”. I think it’s hilarious.

Oh, and Zamboni, I LOVE cinnamon toast. I think I might have some for breakfast as well.

I love the classical cellist Julian Lloyd Webber.

I love salted watermelon.

I like many of Andrew Loyd Webber’s musicals(with the exception of Cats). Evita, Phantom, Jesus Christ Superstar(I don’t think I’ve seen the others).

I liked **Death to Smoochy ** and Mars Attacks.

I’m probably the only person on earth who liked the movie Casino Royale. I never understood why everyone hated it. Yeah, it wasn’t a “proper” bond film, but it was quite amusing and sureal once you get past that wierd first act in scotland.

I was suprised to find a pit thread saying that **Species ** was the worst movie ever made. Hardly. The sequels alone disprove this idea. And I always thought it was good. Not great, but good.
