Ok, so how many people can think of a song, book, or film (or all or any of the above) that they really enjoy but which nobody else - or almost nobody, or nobody you actually know - likes?
I can think of loads, but thats just me.
song: Darren Hanlon - Falling Aeroplanes.
book: Lloyd Biggle Jr. - The World Menders
films: so, so many.
I know you said song, book, or film, but I’d like tobring up my habit of drinking the occasional glass of buttermilk with my meals. I know other people who do this, but they are all over seventy years old. Everyone in my age group (mid twenties) finds it disgusting. I really, really like it.
Films: Gummo, for starters.
I have a friend who likes Huey Lewis. I’ve never met anyone else who would admit to that.
I’m 32, tomyoung, and I’ve loved buttermilk ever since I was a kid. How could you not? All those other people are just weird.
I can’t think of any book, film, or song that would fit the criterion for me. I mean, I like things that aren’t “critically acclaimed,” but there’s always someone else I know who likes them too.
In the same vein as enjoying a frothy mug of buttermilk, I myself love the occasional ice-cold glass of Clamato. Mmmmmm, Clamato. Easily the best clam-flavored beverage on the market.
Among my fellow film buffs, my fondness for the two Dr Phibes films is a source of bafflement.
I am an avowed Rock Snob. I relax by listening to Radiohead, Jim O’Rourke and Robert Wyatt. In consequence, my love of ABBA and S Club 7 leads to raised eyebrows from my friends.
If I said that I liked Cabin Boy, would I be shot? Well, I do, to hell with the consequences. I also like hot peppe on anything - including tuna, a dash on PB&J, etc., etc.
