The game I’m referring to is called, IIRC, “Airborne Ranger” and was one of the few games I used to run on the first PC I ever came into contact with (probably a 286). I’ve searched for it several times but have never been able to find any reference to it.
It was a 3rd person perspective kind of thing, ran in two colours, basically you just ran around shooting things but I’d like to know if it’s still around.
can you describe the game a little better? The only one that comes to mind is the old paratrooper game where you had an AA gun and you shot up guys on parachutes.
First, a little symbol of a plane would fly over the map, and you had to drop your equipment bags. These would float down to the ground and you could pick them up later in the game.
Next came the main stage of the game. Essentially you would be dropped out of a plane to land at the bottom of the map and would have to fight your way up shooting enemies and lobbing grenades at bunkers to get to your objective at the top of the map (munitions dump, etc.) You then make your way to a little cross on the ground, a ladder would decend from an unseen plane, and you would be whisked away.
::sits back and smiles in hazy recallection of good ol’ computer games::
There’s a lot of freeware available to slow down PCs to play old abandonware games. Try searching for “Moslo”, for example. You generally run them from DOS, specify how fast you want the PC to run (as a percentage of normal speed) and then run the game from DOS.
Hey I remember this game. used to play it with a few buddies of mine. all I really remmeber though was there was like 5-6 different senarios. had a nice book to it as well.
