I forgot one. He has a really annoying working-class Boston accent.
that last one, though I think it’ll be a different story on AR vs Survivor. Sort of a ‘my dad can beat up your dad’ kind of playground arrogance. Good possibility for “ugly American” comments, however, I think he’ll be fun to watch.
I just watched the preview on CBS.com of the first episode and it has a funny dig at ABC.
“What will these Survivors do when they realize they are lost for REAL?” Nice.
And my spoiler above is in the preview, so it is probably fair game to discuss.
Heh. Wrong thread. Darn multiple browsers!
Hey. The post above me WAS about Boston Rob. See. He’s already screwing up the Amazing Race!
Hey, I hated Boston Rob waaaaaaaaaay before I knew who Rupert was.
And “better” is a very loaded word choice. Better player? Absolutely. Better person? Highly questionable. And in addition to intially forgetting the accent, you also forgot that Rob has that skanky, “greazy” little moustache, too. Ick.
Nah, he only had the 'stache while on the island, because that’s how patchy his beard is. He was clean-shaven on the finale ep of all-stars, and he’ll probably stay that way on TAR.
Although there’s always the possibility that Boston Rob is a decoy…
He was clean shaven at the live reveal. Maybe he’s stayed that way.
Well, the goal of Survivor isn’t to be the better person. While many people didn’t like his playing style, you must admit he got the job done. Who do you think deserved the win (based on the GAME, not “heart”) than Rob and/or Amber? They PLAYED the GAME. Rupert is a sweet man, he didn’t play to win. Jenna? Meh…if there was ever a more irritating Survivor contestant, I’d not be able to watch.
I kinda like his accent, it’s not something that I hear very often, and I found it interesting. Very working class, VERY northern. I don’t really think he’l be the Ugly American. I think that he might not be quite the ogre that the Anti-Rob crowd thinks he is. (Of course, I did not see the Survivor that he originally participated in, so maybe he did something really heinous in that series that I missed.)
Fenris, to make a long explanation short, I’d say arrogance might be what you would see from Boston Rob. I think that he and Amber have potential to be good racers, unlike Alison and Donny. (We all knew they were a bad “team” before the show started, as she was cheating on him in the BB house…)
Not that I’ll watch it, but if I were to watch it, the only worthwhile part would be seeing Rob & Lamber’s relationship fall apart on TV.
Amber: Wah! Boo hoo! Wah!
Rob: Shut up, you stupid bitch! I already got your money! ::smack!::
I said that Rob was the better player. I voted for Rupert to get America’s Million, but I definitely think he was outplayed both times he was on the island, and that is why he didn’t win the game itself. Not to continue to hijack the TAR thread, but I only think that only twice have the best actual “players” won Survivor (Richard Hatch and Brian Heidik). But it is (or at least was at one time) possible to be nice and still win (see Ethan Zohn).
My big problem with Rob is ROB – I liked him at first, both in Marquesas and All Stars, but he has a certain smugness that really rubs me the wrong way. He didn’t actually win Survivor, and yet he acted the entire time as if he already had, and he was the best. player. ever., and they should just save everyone the trouble and hand over the check. He didn’t seem to me to have a lot of fun with the physical aspects of the game, but he did enjoy messing with people’s heads an awful lot. Maybe I am overly naïve, but sadism (however mild) does not really appeal to me.
Oh, and Amber? Disgusting. The way she behaved at the live finale was just gross. IMO, those two deserve each other. I hope they spend the money before the divorce, because that? Will be a messy breakup.
