Okay, the finale is tonight. Who’s going to cross that finish line first?
My heart says Uchenna and Joyce, my head says Rob and Amber. And the voice of dysfunction in the back of my mind keeps saying Ron & Kelly.
All three are strong teams, and actually I don’t hate any of them (although I can sure do without Kelly – but Ron is okay, and probably if she’s not with him she might be okay, too), so I won’t be cruelly disappointed if any of them win. Although I really hope Romber don’t simply because I want karma to come back and bite Rob in the butt, bigtime.
I was just about to start the thread, but you beat me.
And I feel the same way. Smart money is on Rob and Amber … but I just can’t bring myself to root for them. I’m really pulling for Uchenna and Joyce, if only because she shaved her head and he is the world’s most perfect example of a supportive husband. Ron and Kelly could fall off the face of the earth, for all I care. Although, the preview-ed meltdown and Kelly’s sudden realization (?!?) that they may not be perfectly suited for each other might be entertaining.
Shame on me, deriving pleasure from the emotional problems of others. sigh Just another thing on the list of transgressions that will land me in Hell.
Well, Uchenna is one of my Reality TV Boyfriends (he’s Boyfriend #5), and I recently nominated Joyce as my Charter Reality TV Platonic Girlfriend, so I guess you know who I’m cheering for. I am still holding out hope that Rob and Amber have some sort of awesome fiery plane crash with explosions and wailing and rending of garments, etc., but since I already know that they survived the Race and got married and blahblahfuckingblah, I doubt that will happen.
Hope springs eternal, though. Draelin, I’ll save you a seat next to me in Hell! We’ll have so many notes to compare …
Let’s see now - in the past few weeks: 1) car totaled by uninsured driver 2) xrays
determine need for total hip replacement ASAP 3) favorite job has been axed, leaving me basically unemployed
I’m going for the superfecta of misery and predicting Rob and Amber to win. I hate them, but they are definitely players. In my perfect scenario, Phil (yummmy!) refuses to congratulate them, turns his back and walks away with the other contestants.
Rob and Amber certainly seem like the strongest team there.
However.
However, I think that the team that wins is the one that gets the last little bit of luck: t hey get on the earlier flight, or don’t get on the flight with the delayed connection, or get the good cabby, or spot the flag right away, or whatever. Very much anyone’s race.
And one big disadvantage that Rob and Amber have is that Amber will have to do both Roadblocks. I do sort of like Rob and Amber, but I also think it would be humerous if the last Roadblock was framing in a window or something, and Amber had to do it rather than Contruction Rob.
I’m torn. The fiancee and I have a bet going from the begining of the show. I’m left with my only team as Rob and Amber and she has the other two. Rob and Amber have to win for me to win. I don’t really want them to win so I’m torn.
I guess I’m going to have to pull for Rob and Amber, but really want Uchenna and Joyce to win.
So are they going to go around the world for real or are they going to come back east? I think it will be interesting to see them come straight back. Though I just hope they don’t come to Boston.
OK, here is what I calculated:
[ul]
[li]Ron = 4 / Kelly = 5[/li][li]Rob = 5 / Amber = 4[/li][li]Uchenna = 5 / Joyce = 3[/li][/ul]
Uchenna & Joyce have one fewer RB than the other teams because they completed the head-shaving FF in India. Anyone is welcome to check my math, because it doesn’t look like I calculated correctly. But if I did …
… then it isn’t true that Amber has to do both remaining RB’s, just one of them. Ditto for Joyce. So, on paper anyway, R&K might actually have a slight advantage, Roadblock-wise, since Ron can still do both.
Draelin, that’s where I got my info. I just double-checked my own math and I was wrong (missed the 2nd RB in the “supersized” South Africa episode). zut’s figures are indeed correct. Here is a recap of Roadblocks by episode, with the cumulative # of RB’s performed per person indicated:
[ul]
[li]Episode 1 = Peru: No Roadblock[/li][li]Episode 2 = Chile - Shoeshine: Ron (1), Joyce (1), Amber (1)[/li][li]Episode 3 = Argentina - Infamous “Meatblock”: Ron (2), Uchenna (1), Rob (DNF - 1)[/li][li]Episode 4 = Argentina - Horses: Kelly (1), Joyce (2), Rob (2)[/li][li]Episode 5A = South Africa - Orphanage Shopping: Kelly (2), Uchenna (2), Amber (2)[/li][li]Episode 5B = South Africa - Spears: Ron (3), Joyce (3), Rob (3)[/li][li]Episode 6 = Botswana - Land Rover: Ron (4), Uchenna (3), Rob (4)[/li][li]Episode 7 = India - Tin Boxes: Kelly (3), Uchenna (4), Amber (3)[/li][li]Episode 8 = India - Camel Racing: Kelly (4), Amber (4) {FF for U&J}[/li][li]Episode 9 = Turkey - Storm the Fortress: Ron (5), Uchenna (5), Rob (5)[/li][li]Episode 10 = England - Bus Driving: Kelly (5), Joyce (4), Rob (6)[/li][/ul]
Hope this helps!
That’s going to have to be a mighty big seat in Hell, rockle and Draelin, but of course there will be more room after we hunt Katie down.
According to some other spoilers:
Ron & Kelly were seen on a flight with no other teams on the flight, and same for Uchenna & Joyce – and it looks like Uchenna & Joyce are the recipients of the final nonelimination leg money-and-possessions-stripping. (Poor Joyce, first she loses her hair and then she loses everything else – except she still has Uchenna, who makes up for it all, in my book!) So it looks like all three teams catch separate flights to the finish line. Which nobody has been able to locate with certainty as of yet.
Anyway, it should be interesting. And anything will be better than watching Freddy & Kendra win.
That did help, thank you! I think where I messed up looking at CBS was that I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t find the roadblock in the first episode, then I got angry at the constantly-ringing phone and gave up.
Don’t you worry your pretty little head about it, Mama Tiger, I have a whole big section reserved for the likes of us. And the Reservations Manager has assured me that we will be able to heckle Colin & Christie and Freddy & Kendra from our seats.
Romber definitely have fewer choices. And if one Roadblock involves driving stick, they’re up a creek since we know Amber can’t! (And going on the Race, why on earth wouldn’t she have learned? :wally )
It’s almost a pity that none of them put gasoline into a diesel car this time.
The bet here is that Amber will screw up one of her roadblocks, Former POW / Beauty Queen will get lost and waste time bickering, and Team Skinhead hits the line first.
