I am the dumpster!
(Every so often, it’s fun to be in a store that’s closing for the night. I was in a bakery once, and the clerks were locking up. They loaded me down with an armful of baguettes. It was that, or throw 'em away!)

Locally, House of 1000 Beers has a Monday pizza special. I’m no math wizard, but somehow it costs less to buy a pizza on Mondays than it does to not buy a pizza on Mondays.
I worked with someone who had worked the deli counter at a grocery store. What he told me about food being thrown away made me wish I believed in hell so I could think about food corporate executives dying and going there for the sin of waste.
It’s fun to read some of these responses in Carl Weathers’ voice…
I like the Burger King’s two croissanwiches for $4 deal. I order them with no meat, eat one with three $1 French toast strips, and have the second one at my work break. Toss in a small coffee, and it’s two meals for $6.
Burger King’s 2 for $5 chicken sandwiches. I’m getting to like them more than Whoppers.
Don’t forget you can thrown in free identity theft with your purchase at Cici’s - their POS terminals in many stores were hacked and a lot of people had problems. Not sure if they fixed it yet…
That seems like a *horrible *value, I don’t care how amazing the pizza tastes.
The best deal went away when the Wendy’s super bar did. With the coupon from the Sunday paper, it couldn’t be beaten.
Cheesy bean and rice burrito at Taco Bell is a great, large item for $1. I get two and am totally full.
Krispy Kreme drive-thru near closing time - order 1 donut and they hand you a boxful.
Always the best deal in town.
The turkey sandwich, churro and pizza are pretty good deals too.
Dude, down here we have Jimmy John’s and Jersey Mike’s, both for $8. At least JJs has lots of meat. JMs has a shaving of “turkey.”
When a sub from Cousins goes back to $3 and can be reasonably described as a healthy dinner, I might have to move back home!
Not surprising, the people in the POS business have tended to be the biggest bunch of morons I’ve met in IT.
Since when did a sub from Subway or Quiznos become healthy?
Quarter pouder with cheese and normal fries = 770 Calories
Footlong spicy italian from Subway = 960
Sure, you can probably find “healthier” sandwiches and alternatives at BOTH places, but what does the average person eat at either?
It does prove that Subway advertising has been successful. Eat Fresh (fatty food).
In highschool I had a card that the football team sold to raise funds. The card, among others gave the following discounts:
Merely bringing this up makes me want to call and inquire if the thing still exists as settling for the 2 for $2.50 (McDouble and McChicken) will not be enough at some point.
Burger King - 10 Nuggets for a $1 is pretty good.
They replaced it with the 2 for $2 here quite some time ago, which functions the same as long as you get an even number of items. They added Mozzarella sticks (which saves me money as my kids constantly ask for the $3 ones at Arbys but now like the McDonalds) and some breakfast - though that might be limited to a sausage muffin.
I eat a high fat diet and don’t count calories, and I’ve never been healthier. So I think calories and fat totals aren’t the most important things to look at. Otherwise we should all just eat a box of Snackwell cookies and a bag of rice cakes.
Out of those 2 options I would probably go with the Subway as a salad. The sub wouldn’t be great but definitely better than eating fries.
The CiCis that opened here went out of business pretty fast. I thought it was terrible. At the time Pizza Hut actually had a similar deal (not saying they are great either). I find Little Caesars inedible but my son likes it, which helps since he will want 2-3 meals at a typical fast food place but one of those $5 things fills him up.
As far as values go- I like the 5 Buck Lunch at Dairy Queen, though I think they may have limited some of the options now. Not saying it’s healthy or tastes great, but when the average adult meal at McDonalds or similar is now up around $7, $5 for a large burger/fries/drink/sundae is a value.
