You know you don’t have to order a foot long… they also sell six inch subs. I haven’t ordered a foot long since I was in college. I would say that a six inch is closer to the amount of food in a quarter pounder. Your example would put the Spicy Italian at 480 calories, and if you get the BLT you would be at 320. They also sell veggie subs where almost all of the calories would be from the bread.
This is truly an amazing value in fast food. However, the thought of it still triggers my gag reflex slightly. Burger King’s menu has been doing this a lot lately with me.
Wendy’s value menu is still mostly a buck. A crispy chicken sandwich or a value burger, plus a value fries, and you’ve got a complete meal for $2.
And there’s always some footlong or another at Subway for $5, which is enough for a meal for two.
The Go Cups from KFC are pretty good, too. I can’t remember if those are $2 or $3.
Some also have a biscuit. The KFC $5 box works well for me. The Taco Bell box is usually too much for me, but suits my husband well.
And if it can be obtained quickly, such as during one’s lunch break or on the way home when you’re going to arrive over 12 hours after you left (commuting on my local excuse for public transit sucks).
Side note: there’s a Carl’s Jr. very close to the call center I’m working in. Said call center has over 300 employees. Hardly anyone eats at Carl’s, but the nearby KFC and Subway see a lot of people from our center. Why? Because Carl’s counter service SUCKS. You can wait 5 minutes just to ORDER, because the only customers they give a damn about are drive-up. People who don’t see a point in burning gas for such a short trip are apparently not worthy of service.
