If you go to Amazon.com you can find pilots to their original programming. Apparently they’re going to take into account what people say before they order full episodes.
How have you been liking them so far?
I watched Onion News Empire and Dark Minions. I really enjoyed ONE, it was so stupid. I always read The Onion and watch their videos, so this was right up my alley. It wasn’t as good as I hoped it would be, but it was good enough for me to watch it again.
Dark Minions, I thought was “meh.” It could have been a lot funnier. I really don’t care about the protagonist and his buddy in the least. What will keep me watching is seeing more of the evil empire. I love seeing this evil spaceship be willing to destroy planets but get bogged down with human resource issues.
“Who’s fault is this!?”
“Uh…Bill’s fault.”
Bill: “How is this my fault? I’m in payroll.”
Just watched the pilot for Alpha House. Meh, I didn’t care for it too much, despite having somewhat high hopes. Not sure I laughed once; it was just too goofy.
I thought Zombie land was awful and was planning on starting a separate thread about it but I guess I will put it here. It had good make up effects but otherwise reminded me of those home grown Youtube videos based on movies and video games that you see except more poorly done. The writing and jokes were weak and the actors all seemed to be doing bad impressions of the actors in the original movie instead of being their own character.
The guy playing the Woody Harrelson character was pretty far afield of Woody - more broad, goofy and comic. I’ll agree the others were channeling the movie versions, though I don’t know that they were all that bad in doing so. The writing was the weakest link. You got the situation, you got characters, now make something of it. It was certainly rough, but I’ll see if they can improve - It didn’t make me hate it, and it could improve as many series do, post-pilot.
They introduced a series arc of traveling across the country to meet with the large group of survivors at the end of the episode. Prior to that they were just generally putzing around, wandering the city to meet with survivors just for brief comic effect. Perhaps the arc will tighten things up and give them purpose, and more of a plot.
Two indisputable high points: the opening, and the rolling '76 logo “Zombie Kill of the Week.” I know it’s early, but that’s GOT to be a strong contender for “Zombie Kill of the Year.”
I don’t remember. How did Zombieland (the movie) deal with killing zombies? It looks like the series has abandoned the generally accepted “shoot 'em in the head” strategy.
