Amazon's new "Before 11am" next day delivery; anyone use?

So yesterday I was looking to have something delivered quick, after verifying that I couldn’t buy it locally, and I was willing to take a chance on the time of day it was delivered by ordering the “same day” or “next day” service that you can get either by paying $2.99 or ordering a minimum of $35 or stuff, IF you are already a Prime member (I am, and I use it like crazy).

Well, I discovered that same-day with up-to-11pm is now standard with many items, and the premium service is 7am-11am guaranteed arrival. I signed up pretty quick. I don’t go into work until 3pm on Mondays, and having this arrive before I have to go in is yippee skippy.

I’m wondering how good this service is, though.

There was a while when Amazon still advertised the same-day service, but didn’t come through. You kept getting emails saying “SORRY, we’re delayed.” It was at the outset of the pandemic, and people were ordering online like crazy, though.

I know that Amazon was recruiting delivery people like crazy about a month ago, though, and offering some new perks, as well as allowing people who could send a copy of a full vaccination card the option of delivering maskless as long as that complied with local regulations.

So maybe they were preparing to roll out this service.

Just wondering if anyone with Prime has used this option and had good luck or bad with this.

I’ve done it a few times; typically when it’s been a no addtional cost option, or I’ve really wanted it early the next day for some reason. It’s worked as advertised- typically whatever it is has showed up before 8, much less 11.

I’ve used it a few times, and it’s worked out pretty well; I don’t recall ever having it delayed.

The freaky one was when I ordered something at around 3pm, and they offered delivery from 5pm-11pm that same day. And, it actually arrived around 6pm.
