"America We Stand as One" - What the heck kinda video is this?

A friend on Livejournal recently posted a link to “America We Stand as One”. Basically, this is the cheesiest music video ever made - and it’s not even from the '80s! It has sky fairies, people marching out of clouds and lots and lots of big '80s hair. This has to be a parody, right? Except I’m not so sure. It seems quite sincere, and I have a bit of affection for it as a piece of no-budget flag waving.

So the question: is it real or a spoof?
Sorry if this has been posted before. I did a search on “America stand” but found nothing on the first several pages that related to this video.

The web page shows the guy’s name is Dennis Madalone and he has some stunt-double and extra-actor credits to his name. So basically this is what happens when stuntmen decide they’re directors. I think this is also the latest attempt to cash in on the patriotism craze by making the next pop national anthem a-la- Lee Greenwood’s “Proud To Be An American.”

Fuck me. It’s musical glurge.

And i use the term “musical” in its loosest possible sense.

The guy can’t even pronounce America.

“Amer-uh-cu-uh.” Sheesh.

I’m sure it keeps some people happy, though.

From an earlier MPSIMS thread: link

Maybe it’s a pep rally video from a political campaign or convention? You could drop that video in the middle of the Republican National Convention and nobody would bat an eye, IMO.

He appeared in an early episode of The Next Generation wearing a skirt.

I noticed that too. I kept wanting to say “A-me-RICK-a! RICK!”

This link has been going around my office. I’m glad I don’t work in a place where people appreciate it without irony.

The website mentions (inevitable, considering how bad this glurge is) parody versions. I found one with “America, F*$c Yeah!” on top of the edited video to get some near lip-synch moments. Are there others?

If he’d come out with this in early 2002, I’ll bet he would have made some money off it.

It’s the terrible kinda video, AFAICT.

I would call it an unwatchable video.

I truly have a hard time seeing this as genuine… It has to be a joke.

Just has to be.

Made me laugh, either way.

I think it’s real because there are no signs of parody, no knowing wink, no sly smile, no hint of a joke. It’s unrelenting in its earnestness.

If you guys can find it, someone remixed the video and uped the patriotism to some very funny levels. It’s called the “Fuck Yeah” remix.

Ah, thanks. I knew it was too good/bad for it not to be mentioned here, even if I couldn’t find it with the given search terms.
