I couldn’t stand Abstinence Girl either. She sure thinks she’s some hot rose-scented shit. That said, I was delighted when she made it, because Simon’ll be able to get a few more cutting comments in before they send her home.
Aw, come on! Aretha sang on key. Okay, so maybe it was five different keys …
I didn’t really think anyone was that great last night (except the baby; she was sweet). I did like the brother and sister, but again, I’m one of those people who’s a sucker for harmony. It will be interesting to see how they do in Hollywood. If they took Simon’s advice and really worked between the audition and Hollywood rounds, who knows? I loved the sister’s outfit. She looked really cute.
Yeah, but she’s only sixteen and she’s obviously the queen bee of her small town high school & church youth group. I cut her some slack because, in that environment, all the stuff we find annoying is just part of the hightened teen tribal behavior.
I agree that she’ll probably be sent home in the Hollywood round. The time spent out in the adult world will be good for her (I hope).
The funny thing is that I think she believed that Simon was straight with her when he said he’d bought her little lecture. I think she missed that everyone was laughing at her abstinence pitch (and I agree with Simon’s wait until she gets to Hollywood comment–in fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if behind her Abstinence Girl persona, she and her boyfriend aren’t doing something on the no-no list).
I was pretty surprised that they announced that they had selected 23 for the Hollywood round from Charleston, when there seemed to be so, so many losers and so, so few winners.
I enjoyed Brother and Sister and was annoyed by Annoying Girl and by Aretha.
I disagreed with Simon and thought that Sister was better than Brother.
God, I hated Abstinence girl. The local news hasn’t shut up about her for weeks, and that was it? What a freaking letdown.
I’m curious what they weren’t shutting up about. I mean what is there to say? “Annoying, preachy girl who gives speeches about abstinence auditions for AI”?
