American Idol - 11,12 March [open spoilers posibble, open at your own risk]

One day, I would like to see Simon bitch-slap Ryan. Mwahaha.

I guess I heard it differently than some others here. I though Cook blew it up on that song. He was good. That’s a hard song to sing too.

I’m still entirely missing the David Cook love. He’s not untalented, but he gives off the biggest ‘poser’ vibe. Didn’t like how he just shouted through the whole song. I got no story from his performance, just ‘show’, and that song is all about story.

He needs to be fronting a band, doing his own music. He seems out of place here; the low-rent Daughtry.

On the other hand, I thought Carly’s shouty version of “Come Together” was okay, not great, but good.

Captain Combover definitely didn’t do much for me. Agree the chorus was okay, but the verses sucked. I’m afraid my age shows on this one, however; there’s a certain style that I know a lot of folks love that I just do not get. That’s okay, you young folks enjoy rocking out to the music I grew up on. Therein lies my revenge.

That sounds awesome. Is it an album or a bootleg? Can you tell me where you got it?
I can’t say I’m surprised that he would do that song and not skip it over.

On a personal level I didn’t really like what David Cook did to Eleanor Rigby, but I can’t deny that he did a good job.

I like to think Ryan was telling Simon to stop gay-baiting him, but we’ll see (and to be fair, the gay-baiting was done the other way around, and badly, this time).

Maybe that’s it. I just can’t get into his emo/scene vibe. Calling it ‘posuer’ is irrelevent because posing is what that’s all about. He’s good at it and I really, really tried to like him. It’s 'cuz I’m old.

Yeah, the chorus was fine. The verses were forgettable.

Oh, dear. “Let It Be.” I am not hopeful.

Now this what I expected. Very high-school talent show song choice.

But I definitely love the fact they can play instruments this year.

Ugh.

Say goodnight, Brookie.

The problem with doing “Let it Be” is that even doing it well sucks. She is doing it well, but it’s such an obvious song choice and such a routine version.

Brooke has moved out from under the “indistinguishable blondes” tent and I think has just edged out Carly as my favorite female still standing.

I’m not terribly fond of her personality-wise, but most of the time I ignore the “here’s what they’re like in real life” segments anyway.

Brooke is the Great Hope that a woman can win this year. She just has such a simple earnestness in her voice that if she can keep getting songs like “Let It Be,” she’s unstoppable.

Best of the night so far.

Edit: Dear God, she’s crying?

Wow, Snow White’s dress makes her look like Kate Moss on a diet. Blah performance. I want her to stay because she’s so irritatingly pure. It makes for fun snark.

They always lie about this bitch too. That was an extremely ordinary performance.

Somebody check Simon’s coke. I think it got switched with Paula’s.

I don’t know if it’s the hair or the piano or what, but Brooke reminds me of Sheryl Crow tonight. I can totally see Nanny Brooke as an elementary school music teacher (like Crow).

Paula feels people’s hearts tonight. And after that praise, Simon can never accuse anyone of being “safe” again.

Brooke is the female version of Jason. I like the flaws in his voice better than the flaws in hers. Why is she not getting the “safe” that he got, though? That song is no more difficult to sing than his, and she did a very straightforward version of it.

She was so BORING. Why are the judges all fawning over her?
